Be very prepared. If you don't accept their 10x regular charge, this business will make sure to mess you up behind your back. *Update* after seeing the business's response Classic, blatant lies + use the customers safety as a pretext is their strategy. Don't be fooled or scared when they say "it is unsafe for you" or "have to do it by law". It has always been about disabling your equipment so they can charge you 1500$+ for nothing. *Original post* This business is outrageous and I've never been more upset with a contractor before. After quoting me a hefty price for a small work, which I *declined* very clearly, they went ahead to perform the work as I was stepping out for just a couple of minutes. *HOW* can a contractor ever start doing work at my home *WITHOUT* my permission? This is entirely unacceptable. And yes, they cite “safety reasons”, behaving as if they do this out of *law* and caring for your health. I understand safety protocols, but this went far beyond a standard safety tag or shutdown procedure. No work of this kind should ever be done without clear homeowner consent. Be very careful with these kinds of tricks. There is no law in the world to grant a contractor the power to go into your home and do some work you don't approve of.
