We had a portable one, but the usage is limited to individual appliances and wanted something that was much more useful to us. We researched generators and decided a Generac generator was a good one to invest in. Looking at our local Generac provider, we came up with Generator Supercenter. We started there talking with a sales rep about what we needed, what we wanted, etc. They had many options that covered a number of performance operations including some that did automatic load shedding (cutting off loads that could be lived without first, second, etc.). In the end we got a generator that was powered by Liquid Gas and was big enough to supply our whole house. We had to go out and get gas tanks to support this which was easy enough. The gas company came out, set us up with two tanks and then worked with Generator Supercenter to connect them. Once everything was in place, Generator Supercenter came out and installed and set up the unit, giving us tutorials on the care and feeding of our new generator. We purchased a maintenance plan with them which has them monitoring it as well as coming out for routine maintenance as required. All very hands free for me! The unit kicks on every other week at the same time on the same day and runs for a few minutes to verify it is running correctly. We have lost power a few times and the unit kicks on automatically, restoring power literally within seconds of losing it. It is long enough that my computer turns off but not so long as to be annoying. I'm completely satisfied with the product, maintenance and customer service that I have received from Generator Supercenter.
