Unfortunately, my Yelp review was removed for suspicion that I was bias and worked within the industry. God forbid I research equipment and attempt to help my senior citizen father. He chose to continue service and get a thermostat installed by M&S, and seemed to be confident in the tech - perhaps only after I had coached him on proprietary heat pump and air handler systems, and how Nests handle Trane signals and so forth. He opted for an Ecobee install per the tech, which is great since it is better at mimicking proprietary signals for these boards. I bumped my review one star up as a result. However, I still question the quality of service. To summarize: After a clean and inspection of my fathers systems, he was given a proposal for a softstart kit on his system without questioning costs. My father thought he had a furnace. He was not given proper explanation as to the work being performed. Upon a callback inquiring about cold hair coming out of the system, the Nest thermostat was deemed bad, damage was done to a drywall, the tech on site attempting to replace an Ecobee couldn't get it to work; then claimed it was bad from a previous call (this makes no sense, why would you try to install an open/used ecobee that requires registration?).
He was left with non-answers and a promise for a fix. If you actually check Yelp reviews; you will see several individuals suffering similar or worse fates. They do not have a good track record with HVAC systems, and split systems are popular in NC. The work order summary didn't even mention make, model, or serial number of the system the work that was performed on. He was given an attachment with 19 photos, some of which were screenshots of calculator apps from a phone, others from standard electronic volt meters with no context. Frankly, the cost of a third party softstart system should be around $400. Surge protector? I don't know what you installed; it could be a $30 part or a $300 part. None of these part numbers were provided on the invoice. What are you labor rates anyway? Nothing is itemized. This is inexcusable, unprofessional, and leaves the door wide open for exploitation on your two page terms and warranty information. Furthermore - some Trane systems come with proprietary softstart systems. So how do we know you didn't warranty out a part and replace it with third party anyway?
The warning signs are plainly listed on their front page:
HVAC, Electrical, Indoor Air Quality, Plumbing and Restoration. Listen, Jack of All Trades: master of none. You're a contractor, sending random techs out with ??? experience in any one field. There is a non zero chance all of your techs are certified plumbers, electricians, and HVAC techs, and installers. Having to come back and send a guy that actually maybe knows what he's doing after three calls is unacceptable. Also, when calling the place a human doesn't pick up the phone. So who knows where you're calling to and if you can ever get in touch with someone who works within an on site shop. Not that their work orders detail anything anyway. So here are the photos you want, as proof, forwarded to me by my father. And yes you can check my previous HVAC reviews and run-ins, I've been through the ringer. Maybe some of us are just trying to get our families quality service. And good lord, you offer way too many different services.
