- JEJonathan EdwardsFeb 17, 20261.0They have taken all of the worst aspects of bfs and bmc and combined them. Plus all their buying power to make them the largest lumber yard in country has made them the most expensive in town. Combine that with ridiculous business practices like charging interest and late fees while waiting for special orders and you get bfs ...a worse lumber yard than Home Depot. You ruined two great local lumberyards by turning it into a corporate pile. Plus all the great guys that used to work there are gone. They stock almost nothing, everything is special order and you have to wait for a call back on pricing which is a less than 50% chance you will get that call. 100s of thousands of dollars spent over the last 25 years and they'll treat you as good as and random guy off the street.

I've been in the planning stages for some time now and have gone to several different companies in town to bid out the price of windows for my basement reno. It has been difficult to get any actual bids from any window companies in town, and when I do they have not been good. Long story short it has been frustrating because it seems like none of these people take their jobs seriously. I found out that Builders FirstSource is able to source Milgard Windows online so I emailed the company and it has been GREAT working with them. Erik was very quick to get back to me and was very helpful. He immediately gave me a couple of bids and a small amount of input on what he recommended; which was quite appreciated. He was thorough in his explanations and his bids were thorough and to the point. His succinct and quick responses feel like a breath of fresh air in the midst of all my previous experiences here in Helena. Windows were picked and ordered via email in a matter of days, which was awesome! I am the Maintenance Manager for a large property management group here in town, so having a professional experience for my personal home was great. I will absolutely be recommending Builders FirstSource to clients and coworkers alike, especially if we can work with Erik Wenger.
