- JTJoseph TilleryMay 19, 20212.0I scheduled a rental for an F-250, a 15 passenger van, and a 20 foot enclosed trailer 3 months in advance. On multiple occasions I explained that these vehicles would be used for an out of town student competition event 7 hours away. I set up payment through Mississippi State’s Mechanical Engineering department who sent our card number to pay for the rentals. Not only did United Rentals lose the card information, but they failed to procure suitable vehicles for travel. On Friday of the weekend before I was supposed to pick up the rentals they did not have them in town because they did not have our card info on file. They failed to communicate with enough time to provide the service needed. Today I picked up an F-150, which is not really adequate for our payload, and a van that is unfit for a 7 hour drive. I would have preferred United Rentals explain they couldn’t help us and we have to figure out other options than this. In all fairness, the trailer is exceptional, but the service received is unacceptable. Update: I received a call from their customer service department asking what they could do to fix my dissatisfaction. I asked them to find me an F-250 and a clean 15 passenger van and get it to me in Kentucky. They were unable to accomplish this request but they were apologetic and I felt like they had really tried to fix their mistake. For that, I will update my rating from 1 to 2 stars, but I still won't be using them again.
