  Normally, I get a text or call on the way not today. The technician was very standoffish and not friendly. Last time they were here they offered to fix something for $300. Now they are charging $475. Not happy will look for someone else in the fall.

  I scheduled an appointment during the week of 3/13 to have my AC and heat repaired. When booking, I was told there would be a service call fee of $105–$110, and that the technician would review and get approval for any repair costs before proceeding. That sounded reasonable. The technician arrived around 8:30 a.m. and began working on the furnace right away. However, at about 11:00 a.m., he informed me he had been “chasing squirrels” and that the cost had already reached around $1,100. This was the first time any pricing had been mentioned, which was concerning since I had not approved any work beyond the service call. At that point, I emphasized that I needed my furnace fixed, and he continued working, briefly assisted by another technician. I was told the issue was a burned high-voltage relay (breaker), which he replaced, and he also reinstalled my existing Ecobee thermostat. Around noon, I was presented with a bill for $1,185. When I asked for an itemized breakdown, I received only a very general list: * Service call fee * Track and repair minor wiring problem * Install customer-supplied thermostat * High voltage relay There was no detailed explanation of labor or parts costs. I was also offered a discount if I signed up for a service plan, which I declined—especially given that the effective rate seemed to exceed $275 per hour. **** Update on 4/6 **** After the review was posted, the owner promptly reached out to better understand the situation and address the issue. The mistake was acknowledged, and a significant refund was issued for the unauthorized work.
