  You will be billed at least $100 for the first visit even if it's for 5 minutes, a service fee... that they oddly refuse to call a service fee. Hourly rate is $100/per hr. O'Laughlin was great about communicating the billing rate and minimum fee up front. What's not defined up front is what they deem "Labor". Labor to O'Laughlin means time spent at your house, ordering parts back at the office, and drive time... and they apparently take the looong way home. Don't be surprised when your labor bill is double or triple what you thought it would be. +Adding to this review because I see the owner graced the message board with a reply and proved that he doesn't listen to the customer. I am not disputing the service fee, that was communicated up front. We know how long the visits actually took because we have camera footage of tech arriving and departing. Found it strange that a 15 minute visit became a 1 hr billing on the 2nd day, after the service fee was already applied on the first day. When I called I was informed that this was for driving and office hours. I'm just informing the public that you charge for driving, considering we weren't told that prior to service. Your customers want to pay for services, they don't want to pay for expenses that weren't communicated up front. Response from the owner11 hours ago Joe you sure didn’t mind the the service fees when you called in for service! Now that you have hot water you don’t want to pay your bill! Find it funny that you know what the labor should be to fix the problem, think you should have just fixed it yourself! We don’t need customers like you.

  TL;DR version: O'Laughlin solved my problems the first time! They provided fair prices and fast service! Hire them! The story: Went through a water heater crisis in which my water heater was providing extremely low pressure throughout the house. It's covered by a service contract, so the company deployed some plumbing company from Rochester to look at it. The Rochester-based company said it wasn't our heater, it was our pipes and they wanted $1000 to replace all of our (admittedly old) hot water pipes. We got several second opinions in town, and O'Laughlin was the only company to provide another option as well as some things I could do to test it on my own (e.g. free!). Unfortunately, we went with the majority opinion and my husband and I replaced all of our pipes over a weekend. We hook up our water heater: no water pressure and the relief valve blows. It turns out that O'Laughlin's guy had diagnosed the problem correctly - there was a problem inside the heater! Finally, we could replace the heater. I called O'Laughlin first. They got me scheduled right away the next morning and made billing and paperwork really, really easy. I have been so impressed with them and I was surprised they didn't have more positive reviews!
