- MKMercedes Klein6 days ago1.0Simply, large company just trying to sell and make money. I had a water test done on a home that wasn’t actively lived in so water had been sitting in the pipes awhile and needed to be ran for a good amount of time to get to the water that was in the bottom of the well. Called and asked and made sure this was going to be addressed and taken care of prior to, said they would take care of it, and the water test apparently failed for bacteria and said I needed $7000 in equipment to fix the issue. Went to a smaller (less corporate-like) company and they informed me to run the water through all faucets for at least an hour (they could not have a technician sit out there that long to do that which is reasonable and why I asked Culligan about that to know if I needed to be out there prior to do do anything, but they said they had it covered.) Water test passed with no bacteria after water was properly ran through the pipes for an adequate amount of time given the conditions that needed to be met. Called to dispute the $95 charge and they said, “we followed our procedures.” Well your procedures obviously do not take into account an older home on a well that’s been sitting stagnant for a few months. Not to mention the procedure states the temperature of the home needs to be 65° or more (standard room temp) and the house was set below 60° to keep the bill from racking up while no one was living there. A $6 billion company… $95.
