I want to start by saying the plumbers themselves did a very good job. They were on time, professional, and easy to work with. The office staff was also very pleasant to work with and genuinely apologetic about the scheduling mix up. Despite that, the pricing and overall value completely overshadowed the quality of the service.
I’ve been a customer of Blue Water Plumbing for at least the past six years, and they’ve been out to my house on several occasions. In particular, they typically come about once a year to clean out my main drain line, which is older and prone to root issues. Because of that history, I felt comfortable calling them again for this repair.
This time, I had a kitchen sink drain leaking due to a small crack in a horizontal 2 inch pipe in my basement. The pipe was extremely easy to access no clutter, no crawl space, no surprises. I sent photos ahead of time and clearly explained the issue. There was no diagnosis needed, just replacing the leaking section.
At the same time, I asked to have my main drain cleaned since it was about that time of year anyway. I specifically requested both services be done during the same visit to avoid paying two service call fees. The office worker confirmed this would be fine. I even rescheduled the appointment to a later date so I could pay immediately and made it clear I did not want this treated as an emergency appointment.
On the day of the appointment, the plumber arrived on time and was very pleasant. After a short phone call with his boss, he completed the pipe repair in about 30 to 35 minutes. The work itself was done well.
I was then handed a bill for nearly $700, which was very surprising given how straightforward and quick the repair was. Later, I was informed that the main drain cleaning would need to be done on a separate visit. The office worker was apologetic about the mix up and was able to schedule the drain cleaning for the very next day instead of the following week, which I appreciated.
That second service added another $300. In total, roughly an hour and a half of work ended up costing close to $1,000. While everyone I interacted with was polite and professional, that price feels far too high for the amount and difficulty of the work performed.
I’ve had generally good experiences with Blue Water Plumbing over the years, which makes this even more disappointing. This review isn’t about the people or the workmanship, it really comes down to value. For me, the cost simply did not match the scope of the work.
