- CSChar SpencerMar 8, 20243.0We had our roof replaced by Meschke Construction after a hail storm 2 years ago. Recently, we had a leak which made the insulation damp and the plywood was also damp in our attic. The water leaked through our bathroom vents also. We contacted Meschke and they found the roof vent was leaking, repaired it plus they painted around the ceiling fan vents in our bathrooms. In order to get to the point where they repaired and replaced parts, we had another contractor come in to take a look at exactly what was going on. The contractor we paid told us the damage in our attic was due to a roof leak and should be covered under warranty. We contacted Meschke and they did repairs to prevent further damage, but they did not do any other repairs to replace the wet insulation or damp plywood. The damage to the plywood and insulation were because of the roof leak and they said their responsibility was to fix the leak and that was it. They said that they were fixing the ceiling damage around the bathroom vents and that was going over and above what they would usually do. The contractor Meschke sent out was great. He did exactly what he was supposed to do as far as repairs that Meschke approved. He did a great job. I have an issue with the fact that the damages associated with the leak were not fully repaired and think if there’s a roof leak and there are damages caused by that leak, everything damaged by the roof leak should be repaired by the contractor.
