  I would not recommend this builder based on my experience with the customer service I received from the owner, JD Hanson. I built a home with Hanson in 2023 and have since noticed several concerns, including mold and roof discoloration. When I reached out for support, I found the responses to be defensive rather than cooperative, and meaningful assistance was only provided after I filed a report with the BBB. Additionally, my access to the BuilderTrend portal - which is typically used by homeowners to track issues, review past orders, and access warranty information - was removed. This has made it more difficult to address ongoing concerns. For comparison, I previously built with Robert Thomas Homes and had a much more positive experience. Based on my personal experience, I would encourage others to carefully reconsider before choosing this builder.

  I have recently completed 2 New Construction transactions with Hanson Builders. Jeremy Berg is absolutely fantastic to work with. He is a true professional and is an excellent communicator . He is truly above and beyond most Real Estate Agents . I would trust him and Hanson Builders. Great job Jeremy

  This is my first experience building ground up and I chose Hanson Builders based on their excellent reputation. I also met the owner himself at the Parade of Homes and he was very genuine and it impressed me. Hanson Builders started off great and continued to be great until the end when it really mattered! I had been impressed with all at Hanson until their warranty team came into the picture. I purchased a $1.4M home from Hanson and they are not standing behind their work. And it’s over relatively more minor items from a cost standpoint. I moved in last June 2024 and waited to see how they would respond on a couple issues before writing an objective review. I really really wanted to support and promote Hanson but I simply cannot based on their warranty team lead. I have now had two issues with this same person who runs the warranty show for them. Again they build million dollar homes but their warranty guy is looking to save every penny! I first had an issue with Hanson forgetting to seal my front porch wooden posts. I filed claim and their warranty manager quickly shot back that they already did do it and I was mistaken. This was an auto generated response from him without anyone checking on site to confirm. The sub ended up coming out the next day and telling me it was never sealed and he would make it right regardless of what Hanson warranty said. A much larger issue surrounds my lawn drainage. I filed claim last fall and they came out and inspected and made a few tweaks to my sprinkler system. They also told me I needed to demand my neighbor points their sump out towards the steet as if I could make my neighbor do what I said on his property. They told me to give it over the fall and winter to settle and if it continued in the spring, they would do something to correct it. I followed up recently on the same issue and they quickly shot back with the same exact directions as how to address it as they did in the fall. The same directions that proved to be unsuccessful are being repeated and they are saying it’s on me not them. Hanson Builders was fantastic (5 out of 5) on all front end design (Julie, Emily, and Luke in particular) and also fantastic (5/5) throughout the construction. Where I am extremely disappointed is on how Hanson Builders is finishing. You can start strong but it’s all about how you finish! It’s the finished product that is my biggest financial asset that I have to live with for the next 20 plus years. In the end, I would suggest you choose another builder and I cannot recommend Hanson Builders. I still have other open issues too coming due as part of a one year walk thru. I’ll write additional comments as I go through the process. If you are considering building a home, please reach out here and I’m happy to connect and share additional detail and perspective. UPDATING MY REVIEW AS OF 7/18/25 I need to admit that I was wrong here. I was very adamant that the lawn issue was something that Hanson was not treating me fairly on and that their advice and reasoning was faulty. They came out again and this time adjusted my neighbors lawn sprinklers and it in fact corrected the issue. Again, I was wrong and they are the experts and they were correct from the start. In retrospect, I really appreciate how they handled it as I was a bit stirred on the issue and their main warranty guy always stayed very calm regardless of my emotion. Rather than being defensive, he stayed very calm and tried to be reassuring. In addition, we recently had our one year walk through and their warranty team is being very responsive to all of our concerns throughout the house. Now that we are about 13 months into the new house, I would say without any hesitation that Hanson Builders is a class act that expects and delivers top of class results. I spoke too soon above when I rated them a 2 star and am now giving them the 5 stars they deserve. All around very impressed.

  We are happy with the quality of the home and the very nice finishes. The building process was smooth and Darien was exceptional as the project manager. Hanson’s team has gone above and beyond to address our needs, especially with the exterior landscaping, grading, driveway, and trees which are heavily dependent on spring weather. We are extremely happy with our home and our experience with Hanson Builders!
