Our heating stopped working on Jan 1st, so we called around a bunch of places trying to find someone to service our steam boiler. Its hard to find a company who service steam boilers in Detroit, but we told Family the make and model of our boiler, and that it was a steam system, and they told us that they could be out on the 6th. They just turned up....and they don't service steam boilers. We literally could not have been clearer about our system, and took time off work for the appointment and all we got was our time wasted by this company.

On the morning of 12.31.25 our furnace was making a loud humming sound. I checked on it, didn't notice anything and the noise stopped so I went back to bed. The noise came back and we called Family to come checkon the furnace. Later that day technician, Demacio stopped by our home to see what went wrong with the furnace. The motor died on us. He also noticed we needed a new blower wheel. Unfortunately he didn't have the wheel on the truck with him. He told me that the it would have to be ordered and may take 24 to 48 hours. He called another person from the parts department and quoted the price of the blower wheel. He said they'll be back to finish repairs. Due to the new year, the earliest they would return is Friday 1.2.26 or Saturday 1.3.26 and the service fee would be waived. I said ok and paid for the services call and the motor and got my receipt via email. My family and i decided to stay in the house for the few days with space heaters until repairs were made. Being optimistic I called on Friday 1.2.26 to check on the status of the part. I spoke with a receptionist named Linda(I'm not entirely sure if that was her name). I gave her my info and she pulls up the service info from 12.31.25. I then asked on the status on the part that we needed for our furnace. Linda then told me that they haven't received the part and it may take 24 to 48 hours. Although when they do get the part, they would notify me. I verified that she had the correct contact info and hung up. Now on 1.3.26 after getting off work, I call them to get an update on the blower wheel. After being transferred I'm now on the phone with Frank from the parts department. I asked Fank about the part. Frank informed me that the blower wheel was never ordered. The reason being is because they needed our confirmation to order the part. He said that I missed a call from them on Friday 1.2.26. While on the phone with him, I checked my call history log. I only see the call i made to them when i asked about the part. Perplexed at this point because i spoke to 2 individuals at the same company and one of them spoke with someone in the parts department. That assured me the part was ordered and on its way. i asked to speak to a supervisor because the situation doesn't make any sense to me. I thought it was aparent that my home is without heat and repairs needed to be finished. Why is a confirmation from me needed to order something that i was already quoted about. Even if I did miss the call, someone could've mentioned that i called earlier about it. Frank told me the supervisor was absent and wouldn't be in the office until Monday 1.5.26. He also told me Monday would be the earliest they can get to my home to finish repairs. Its seems like the miscommunication is on us even though i was proactive on this. Thats almost a week without heat in my home. I look forward to speaking with the supervisor on Monday.

The technician that came out was Moe and he did an excellent job diagnosing and repairing the furnace problem. He was willing to answer my questions and provided me with very useful information. Family HVAC is always my first call when I have a problem, and I will now ask for Moe going forward.

My furnace went out Monday morning and I called Family Heating and was told someone would call me today at 2:00 to schedule an appointment for this Tuesday they called me before 2:00. My appointment was between 12:00 and 3:00. The technician called me Tuesday and asked could he come earlier. He did a fabulous job and I would definitely recommend Family Heating. I now have heat!!!!!¡
