Jim Kerwin founded Kerwin Electric in 1975, initially operating out of his barn in Schoolcraft, Michigan. With his extensive knowledge of agricultural power, he quickly became a preferred contractor among the local farmers. This work led to various residential and small commercial contracts; his business quickly grew to about ten employees, and the business nearly doubled in size over the next decade. In 2000, Chad began the process of taking over the business. With the additional management personnel in place, Kerwin Electric was able to diversify its services to include everything from automatic standby generators to wind/solar solutions. Jim still takes part in running the business and continues working in the field today; he makes sure that the company maintains its core principles of providing quality service at a fair price.

- ACAdam CieslinskiAug 12, 20241.0We reached out to Kerwin a month ago for a quote to install an inlet box and interlock to hook up a portable generator to our home. They came the same day and said they would email us a quote. After a couple weeks of not hearing back, we reached out again and still haven’t heard a thing. I wish I would have read all the reviews with similar issues. Fortunately, another company has already completed the work. Kerwin’s disorganization and lack of communication has permanently lost our business.
- CEChad EllisonNov 3, 20231.0Called Generac to get scheduled for a whole house generator. Given this company's name for installation. They missed appointment Generac set up with me involving them. Got a call from Kerwin after that appointment came and went to schedule an appointment for them to come out to give an estimate. Weeks later, appointment came and went with no call or show from Kerwin; after they scheduled their own appointment, and left me wasting a day waiting for them. Not sure if I want to entertain a 3rd attempt from this company. If this is how they treat potential customers, I can only imagine the hoops you'd have to jump through with this company to get anything done...

- TStonya schmittFeb 6, 20201.0I had an appointment for generac consultation. Called said he would be about an hour late, which was fine. When he arrived he was very unprofessional. He was rushed and blowing me off. Acted like he didn’t even want to be there. I was asking questions and thought this was going to be something we were going to go over but after being there for only about 15-20 minutes, he said he needed his iPad, supposedly and would get me the quote first thing in the morning. Never got it! I emailed the company because I feel very uninformed. The only response was, “Sorry to hear this, Chad is in vacation until Monday. I will see if I can get ahold of him.” Not happy with this service. Definitely won’t be using them to buy our generator nor would I recommend anyone else to use them.
