Alexander Ball did an incredible job during what we thought would be a routine Plumbing Inspection. Not only was he very friendly and knowledgeable, he went above and beyond by finding / diagnosing a plumbing issue which would have turned into a major problem. He spent extra time contacting the appropriate people and resources to ensure that the problem could be fixed. Alex was extremely thorough and we are very thankful he performed our inspection.

We called Thornton & Grooms with a long list of plumbing repairs, including replacing a 1960s faucet, a plumbing leak from the upstairs tub that dripped into the kitchen downstairs, draining & flushing the hot water heater, adding antihammer valves to both the hot and cold water lines on the washing machine, and replacing the water lines which were beginning to corrode. I don't remember if there were any additional repairs.
Jonathan Wellman was both friendly and knowledgeable about all our plumbing issues. He told us that antihammer valves were required by code with modern front loading washers -- something the installers never told us. The antihammer valves have made a HUGE difference in how the washer runs -- no more banging pipes that reverberate throughout the house. The new faucet in the mudroom sink has a pullout with a sprayer, something Jonathan suggested. This makes the sink much more practical; I wonder why we never thought of this. He also set the faucet handle with the hot water towards the wall, so kids couldn't hurt themselves when they turn on the faucet by pulling it towards themselves. All of his suggestions about the repairs we needed were good ones that made a difference in the functionality of our plumbing. Jonathan worked efficiently and neatly, leaving no mess to clean up
I would certainly call Thornton &Grooms again, and I would ask for him if possible.

t&g are fine for actual installation or repair work (although they are generally the most expensive), BUT and this is a big but, their Home Care Club and general scheduling is horrible.
i’ve had the club membership for years. have an a/c check and furnace check every year for “free” as part of the club membership but lately these “free” services has become too troublesome. t&g will only schedule the inspections for a “"specific day with no guess as to time. “just be home all day” and when they find a technician who isn’t working on a “for pay” job, usually at the end of the day when you’re having dinner, they send one.
i’d still consider them for new installations or major repairs, but don’t be fooled by the club offers. unless you like waiting all day for a “free” service that may or may not happen.

I can’t recommend Thornton and Grooms highly enough! They just installed a new furnace and AC unit in our home, and the entire experience was seamless from start to finish. The team showed up right on time, assessed everything quickly, and got to work with incredible efficiency—five pros all coordinating like a well-oiled machine to complete the full installation in just one day. No mess left behind, everything tested perfectly, and they’re already keeping us comfy as the weather turns chilly.
Their attention to detail, clear communication, and friendly attitudes made what could have been a stressful project feel effortless. If you’re in need of HVAC services, these are your guys—top-notch quality at a fair price. Thank you, Thornton and Grooms, for exceeding our expectations!

Just had a new furnace and air conditioner installed. The T&G team did a fantastic job. Our job was a bit more complicated than they first anticipated and didn’t rush the process to do it right. They were at my home for about 11 hours!
We had this job quoted by 4 different recommended companies from the Lennox website. One of the more popular companies quoted smaller units than the ones we were replacing but you don’t necessarily know this because model number can be the same but it’s the rest of the part number that gives the true details of what’s quoted. The other guy, i fear, wanted the job and figured if he came in lower he would win the business. You need to make sure when getting quotes you are comparing apples-to-apples. T&G was very patient and knowledgeable with all my questions. I felt confident i was getting quality units and expert installation. I would 100% buy from them again and i highly recommend.
