I noticed a problem with the heat in my Magician Lake summer home on a wintry cold Friday
afternoon. I called Lake Effect and thought they would tell me they could be there Monday morning. Instead, Gary offered to go out that evening but because the weather was awful, I asked if he could go Saturday morning instead. He did and found the inevitable that our 30 year old heating system had died. Since he could not get a new system installed for a few days, he brought out several high powered heaters to keep our well pump from freezing. I was surprised but thrilled at the extremely reasonable price for the system and their labor!
From moment one, Gary and his team have been an incredible company to work with! I can’t say enough good things about Lake Effect, a locally owned company!

Frequently Asked Questions About Lake Effect HVAC Company
How often should I service my HVAC system?
We recommend servicing your HVAC system at least once annually. For optimal performance, it's advisable to schedule maintenance for cooling systems in spring and heating systems in fall.
What size HVAC system do I need for my home?
The appropriate HVAC system size depends on various factors including your home's square footage, insulation quality, window types, and other considerations. We strongly recommend having a professional HVAC technician assess your home to provide an accurate recommendation.
How can I improve my HVAC system's efficiency?
To enhance your HVAC system's efficiency, we suggest regular maintenance, monthly filter replacements, proper duct sealing, and installing a programmable thermostat. These steps can significantly improve system performance and energy efficiency.
Why is my HVAC system making strange noises?
If your HVAC system is making unusual sounds—like banging, rattling, or whistling—it could be a sign of something going wrong. These noises might point to loose parts, motor issues, or something blocking airflow. While it might be tempting to ignore the sounds, they often signal a problem that could get worse over time. The best way to protect your system (and your comfort) is to have a professional take a look. A trained technician can quickly identify the issue and recommend the right fix to keep things running smoothly.
How long does an HVAC system typically last?
With proper maintenance, most HVAC systems have a lifespan of 15 to 20 years. However, older systems may operate less efficiently and incur higher operational costs compared to newer models.
What's the difference between a heat pump and a traditional HVAC system?
A heat pump handles both heating and cooling by moving heat between the inside and outside of your home. Traditional HVAC systems usually rely on separate units—like a furnace for heating and an air conditioner for cooling—to do the same job.
How often should I change my air filter?
We recommend changing your air filter every 1 to 3 months. The frequency may vary based on factors such as system usage, presence of pets, and allergy concerns. Regular filter changes improve air quality and maintain system efficiency.
What are the signs I need a new HVAC system?
Indicators that you may need a new HVAC system include frequent repair needs, increasing energy bills, inconsistent temperature distribution, and a system age exceeding 15 years. If you notice these signs, consider consulting with a professional about potential replacement options.
Do you offer emergency HVAC services?
Yes, our company provides round-the-clock emergency services to address urgent heating and cooling issues for our customers.
Are there financing options available?
