Our HVAC failed over Independence Day Weekend this past summer. It was hot as could be over a holiday weekend and I knew finding a technician was going to be nearly impossible and a few phone calls proved that theory true. Through a little DIY troubleshooting I identified our issue, a bad start/run capacitor...the top was completely bulged so It wasn't a difficult diagnosis. "Great!" I thought, I'll just call an HVAC supply company and get a new capacitor (Independence Day fell on a Thursday and fortunately a lot of businesses were open on Friday). Not so great...every supply company I called would not sell to a private individual, only technicians. One company actually came right out and admitted this was specifically done "protect the livelihoods of their customers"...i.e. the HVAC repair companies and their technicians. More on that later. Ferguson HVAC Supply was the only supplier I could find that would sell to little o'l me. Went in picked up my capacitor (Cheaper than Amazon by the way and I didn't have to sweat for two days or more waiting for it) and installed it. Worked like a champ. And then do you know what I did? I called an HVAC service company and had a technician come out to check my work and give my system a full inspection. The idea that selling HVAC parts retail is going to somehow put HVAC service companies out of business or even do any serious damage to their business is just ludicrous! I do a lot of DIY, but I also know when I need a pro. Thank you Ferguson for understanding that concept and helping me out of a bind!

This goes for the consumer plumbing supply side of the business - My business partner (female) and I have dealt with these guys on a few occasions as walk-in customers with a wide range of questions regarding our rental properties, some off the wall, some pretty vanilla. Never once did any of the CSR`s treat her or me with any type of condescending attitudes or tones, despite what our level of knowledge in the discussion was. My partner can attest to the treatment woman can, and often do receive at these types of supply shops which service male dominated trades. But these guys listened to everything we had to say and made sure we understood all the jargon and acronyms we wouldn't be expected to know. I went in to order a pressure assisted toilet, the CSR told me why he avoids them, but once he saw I was interested only in a commode that would scare the hell out of guests even they used it, worked with me to find the best value. Don't hesitate to use these guys, ever. They are helpful, knowledgeable, and I'm pretty sure not paid in commission based on my experiences, but if they are, has some pretty legit ethics!

Staff could care less about your needs. "I dont know just look on the wall" is not a good answer for a customer. The sales department seems clueless about plumbing parts and functions. Their hub to satelite ordering is slow and inaccurate. Nobody seems to really hold any liability to their word. There are many reasons I am currently livid with them.
