I've been going to RoofTop Recycling for over 20 years and love the ease of using our own dump trucks and bringing in old shingles for recycling at the Boxborough, MA location. It's easy to get to, being right off 495. On a real personal note, I will never forget Sean bringing a dumpster out to us in Lowell, MA, on a Sunday when the facility was closed because we had underestimated the volume of trash from a very dirty Tar & Gravel flat roof. Saved the day!!! Thanks!!!

Frequently Asked Questions About Roof Top Recycling
What materials do you accept at your recycling facility, and how should I prepare my load for drop-off?
Our facility accepts loads containing at least 90% asphalt shingles. Small quantities of paper, plastic, and minimal wood materials such as plywood or pallets are permissible. Nails can remain in the shingles. However, loads with excessive debris may incur additional fees or be rejected. Please ensure your load is properly secured during transportation to prevent material spillage.
Do you provide pick-up services for shingle recycling?
We currently do not provide direct pick-up services for shingle recycling. Customers can either deliver their shingles to our recycling facility or utilize our disposal & dumpster network s to find a convenient affordable alternative.
What is the process for recycling asphalt shingles?
Our recycling process begins with collecting asphalt shingles as construction and demolition material. We then sort and remove contaminants and debris from the shingles. The cleaned, reclaimed asphalt is transported to our end site as recyclable material. At this location, the shingles are ground down and repurposed for new road construction projects, contributing to waste reduction and sustainable infrastructure development.
What happens to the shingles after they are dropped off?
After drop-off, the asphalt shingles are processed into various materials including asphalt pavement and road base. This conversion helps minimize landfill waste while supporting environmental sustainability initiatives.
Can homeowners drop off shingles, or is it only for contractors?
We welcome both homeowners and contractors to drop off asphalt shingles at our facility, provided the materials meet our established guidelines. Please note that we enforce a 1-ton minimum requirement for all loads.
Do you accept other roofing materials like rubber or metal roofing?
Our facility exclusively accepts asphalt shingles for recycling. Alternative roofing materials including metal, slate, or rubber must be disposed of at other appropriate facilities.
Do I need an appointment to drop off the shingles?
No appointment is required for shingle drop-offs. However, we request that customers arrive at least 20 minutes before our closing time to ensure sufficient time for offloading and processing your materials.
What happens if my load does not meet your material requirements?
Loads containing excessive contamination that fail to meet our guidelines may either be rejected entirely or subject to additional processing fees.
Is there a minimum charge for shingle recycling?
Yes, we apply a 1-ton minimum charge for all loads brought to our recycling facility.
