  Excellent staff and service. Would highly recommend. Replaced our furnace, and were able to quickly work around our tight schedule. Installation was seamless, clean and professional. Jason C and Eric L were both fantastic.

  Had an issue with my boiler at night so I called GEM for a technician to come take a look. Joe K was at my house within the hour and although he didn’t have the replacement part with him he came back first thing next morning and repaired the boiler. I’m extremely happy with the service I got and can’t say enough about Joe K. I highly recommend GEM and we will be using them again in the future!

  When I asked for pricing over the phone for a house visit to diagnose a broken furnace, I was told that they had a flat rate fee of $149 for the visit, and that I should expect additional cost for repair. This seemed reasonable to me since other companies I had called had a flat fee for showing up, somewhere been $50-$100, plus an hourly rate of about $150. So I figured GEM could provide diagnostics for cheaper than some company charging an hourly rate, and I asked them to come by. Oh boy was I mistaken. When the technician arrived, he was friendly and sincere, but I still felt like I had been duped by this company. He informed me that in addition to the flat fee mentioned on the phone, that there was a diagnostics fee as well, and I had to sign that agreement before he could look at my furnace. The diagnostic fee, which was NOT conveyed to me over the phone after I specifically asked if there were any additional fees, came out to about $420. I was told this fee gets applied to the cost of repair if I choose to have GEM perform the repair. I was extremely upset and felt betrayed, but as we had 0 heat on a below freezing night, what option did I have but to sign and hope for a quick fix? In the end, I did not get the repair with GEM, and saved significant money by calling another technician to come in. I was told by the GEM technician that either my control board or blower motor were likely bad, but that he could troubleshoot the blower motor without fixing the control board first. I would have to wait 2 more days and spend about $2.5k for the control board. I was also told the motor would likely cost over $4k. In the end, the other technician I had called had no issue troubleshooting the blower motor, which was indeed the faulty part, not the control board, and he had it fixed in short time for around $1k. This saved me about $5.5k and proved that the GEM technician had provided very poor diagnostics, hence really making me question the nearly $600 value I was supposedly provided by his house visit that night. If you’ve read this far, I think you’ll likely agree, DON’T CALL GEM.

  We were told that the service call was included in our GEM service contract except we found out that we had to pay $210 for the first plumbers that showed up and then $473 for Christopher who also could not diagnose the problem. Why do we bother paying for a GEM service contract?!? On top of that Christopher was defensive when we tried to ask questions about the VOC and CO2 problem that he didn’t solve.
