- DPDaniel PayneNov 6, 20251.0Started having some issues with my furnace. Called at 9am to have a technician come check it out. I was told it would be a $70 call out fee. Around 10am the temperature inside dropped below the thermostat setting, which I had already dropped, and it kicked on but surprisingly it was working. Technician showed up around 1:45pm, furnace was still working. I explained to him that it was now working and what was happening when it did not work. He proceeded to check out the unit and noted it sounded like my flame sensor was just dirty. He cleaned it and proceeded to tell me afterward that my total was $200. Not, “Hey, I’ll clean your flame sensor for you but it’s gonna be an extra $130 if you’re okay with that?” As it turned out, it cost $70 for the call out fee, but somehow it costs $130 to remove, clean, reinstall, and test the sensor. I just wanted to leave this review for anyone who might have an issue with their flame sensor, just get on YouTube and watch how to do it. It takes like 5 minutes and you’ll save $130.
