DO NOT USE Big Bob’s!! You will regret it!!
I had two, specific parameters that I stated I needed in my carpet. I stated these parameters more than once when in the store. I talked to two sales professionals on these parameters on different occasions and what happened, neither parameter was met. Of course, I did not know this until after the carpet was installed.
I later talked to Paul, the owner of Big Bob’s. He did not back the product he was selling after his employees misspoke on expected performance. He only offered to put the blame on the manufacturer. He accused me of not liking the way my carpet looked. Umh, no. I love the way this carpet looks! It’s the performance that I am not happy with… the performance I clearly said I needed. The carpet looks like there was a sand volleyball match played on it, and puppy accidents do not pool at the top. Instead, they sink all through the carpet and the odor is impossible to get out. Yes, I paid for the pet proof padding. I was extremely forthcoming of my needs.
Upon further discussion with Paul, it is evident my carpet will not be replaced at the cost of Big Bob’s, but only at the cost of the manufacturer. That is, if the manufacturer deems a defect. I am not here to talk about defects, I am here to tell you I was mislead, twice, on the performance of the carpet by sales “professionals”. Paul has offered to come and look at the carpet, even though someone has already been out to assess my carpet and they agreed with my complaints! Paul’s tone on the phone, tells me his visit will be a waste of my time.
Ironically, the same person that came out to look at the carpet, was not there for the carpet’s performance, but for poor installation. This is an entirely different topic! First, Bob’s knew the carpet needed to be laid on a Monday and Tuesday, as my movers were coming Wednesday. Guess what? Carpet installation was not finished on Tuesday and you know what the installation manager suggested? “My carpet layers can work around your movers.” ?? Are you kidding me?! Did you really just say that?! I had to complain to get another crew out at the crack of dawn on Wednesday to finish the installation. And guess what? Both installer crews had only fair installation and both are in need to come back out for repairs. Who has time to deal with this two crews making repairs?
So, please, SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE and DO NOT USE BIG BOB’S!!! Saving a couple hundred dollars is not worth it!!
I can only imagine Big Bob’s reply to this honest review. I can already tell you they will have excuses and tell me that I, the customer, am wrong. I am the consumer and not the seller. The seller should know their product, listen to their customers’ requests, and back their products.
Addendum: I need to clarify that only one visit was really made to my home, and that visit was to look at the installation issues that would require two crews to come out. I texted Paul’s cell today, before he was headed to my home. I stated there was no need to come, as I felt BB was only willing to push the blame on the manufacturer. As of 7pm, my text to him has still not been read.
I purchased flooring for an entire new build. I took in my exact blueprint, and Angela calculated the amount of flooring I needed,. I trusted their expertise Once we installed the flooring, I had 20 extra boxes! Yes, upon purchase, I was told there would be no returns, but how is that an acceptable amount of excess? When I agreed to the purchase, I felt like maybe 2 or 3 boxes but not 20 extra! Paul, the manager, agreed it was not an acceptable amount of overage but refused to do anything about it. I was not allowed to return any boxes despite their error. I regret trusting them in their field. I regret attempting to explain my dilemma to Paul who stated he understood my problem but still refused to help remediate the situation. Very poor professionalism and extremely disappointing business practices. Do not deal with these people at any point. The lack of regard for the customer far overrides the positive aspects of this business. Realistically, they seemingly feel they have the right to sell you ANY amount, take your money under the premise it is the amount of product you need; and then, in my experience, have a clear conscience about turning their back on the error they committed.

I had a very frustrating experience with Big Bob’s in Overland Park and would not recommend them.
Since the installation of my carpet, it has been one issue after another. During the installation of the stair runner, the contractor dropped a tool and chipped a piece of my LVP flooring. While accidents can happen, what’s unacceptable is how poorly this has been handled ever since.
I’ve been trying for months to get this damage repaired, and it has been a constant runaround. I’ve had to repeatedly follow up with Paul, the manager, just to get any kind of update. Communication has been extremely lacking, and the customer service has been disappointing.
At one point, I was told that Lindsay would reach out to schedule an estimate for the repair, but I never heard anything. When I followed up again today, Paul told m, again—that Lindsay would contact me. When I pointed out that I he already been told that over a week ago, his response was essentially, “well, I’m saying it again,” which I found rude, dismissive and highly unprofessional.
Overall, this has been a drawn-out and frustrating experience with little accountability or follow-through. I would strongly caution others against using Big Bob’s.
