Andrew was thorough and knowledgeable. He took the time to not only provide preventative, routine maintenance, but also completed a diagnostic on an issue. Although his recommended product didn’t solve the problem, he had back-up solutions at his ready disposal. He communicated well with his team, and educated me on additional product and service options. I could tell he truly cared about me as a customer and the quality of his service.

I unfortunately had a situation with my garage door that required a last minute emergency visit. The technician, Nate Johnson, showed up at the early part of our scheduled window and took the time to look over the situation. After the repairs were completed I appreciated that he took the time to give me some things to keep an eye on as well as tips to keep the door functioning properly. While I would have preferred a visit under better circumstances, I’m happy with the work that was done and glad to have a functioning door again. I plan to pass the word about A1 to my neighbors should they need service.

Austin was hesitant to give me a price to have new springs on my garage door--just expensive. I asked if he worked on commission and he said no. I paid over $1200 for 2 springs. I later checked online and found that springs vary from$400 to $800. He also told me I needed a new motor and that he couldn't get the door to open. I refused to let him install a motor. That was almost 2 months ago and I've never had a problem with the door opening and closing. I called A-1 and asked for the price of springs and was told that only servicemen know prices. I'm an 80 year old who was taken by this company.

A year ago, one day our garage door suddenly would not stay closed, and after three or four attempts, it would finally stay shut. We got a coupon in the mail for a check up and tune up from A-1 for a decent price so we decided to go with them. They came out, informed us our springs were on the older side and were most likely the reason for the door not staying closed. We paid around $2500 to have them replace the springs and a few other components to get the door up to date. Quite literally the next day, the garage door would not stay closed. We had to call them again to come out and do some “adjustments,” and it started to work properly. We were told the parts had a lifetime warranty and then we paid extra for a labor warranty for future repairs. Around the year mark, I receive a text asking if I wanted to schedule a tune up appointment with their automated system, or if I wanted someone to call and schedule an appointment, I responded with “call” and the response was “someone will reach out within 24 hours to schedule an appointment.” 3 days later, I had to call them to schedule an appointment. Their answer was “someone will be there Friday between 1-6.” I took the afternoon off, which costs ME money for the appointment. At 5PM on Friday, I receive a message that the technician won’t be able to make it to my house for a tune up. I call the customer service line, they said they could get a tech out on Sunday morning, great! The technician comes out, dose his tune up, and then asks if I wanted to pay the $155 renewal fee for their warranty. I was a bit confused on what I was paying for, the technician did an awful job explaining that the warranty only covers the labor and that I would need to pay Annually to keep the warranty up to date. I pay the fee, the technician leaves, and THAT EVENING, my door again won’t stay closed!! On top of that, my garage door opener starts to make a very loud grinding noise it never made before. I called the next morning and was told a technician would be out that afternoon to look at it. They came, said they might know why it was not staying closed, said they would also lubricate the motor which is not something they normally do on a tune up. I am not at all happy with the work they’ve done. I DO NOT like their automated customer service system when they have real people you can talk to. I am not looking forward to next years tune up. If I have to call them out a second time, I will be moving to a different company.

Nate was professional and very nice. My garage door wasn’t shutting all the way. My service call was to only shut my garage door. No repairs, I was charged over $300 to simply get the door down all the way. Took maybe 45 minutes to an hour or less to achieve this. I explained when they arrived that I was not interested in any repairs at the time, only getting it shut. I was then quoted almost $2000 in repairs. This is the second time I have had A1 out. First time was just for a service and a sprung spring needed replaced. Was then talked into the tension bar pully system. Which I ended up doing. I understand that part of their job is upselling services snd parts. But I specifically told them what I wanted and couldn’t afford much at this time. I feel $300 was very excessive to simply get a door flush to the ground. I am a single woman and feel like I may have been overcharged for the actual service I received. I will explore other options next time I need garage door services.
