Back on 12/20, I got a call to schedule some plumbing work in the bathroom of my rental so the toilet might - finally - flush. I was at work when the call came in and missed it, but called back shortly thereafter. I was told that he was out of the office and would call back.
That call back did not come.
I finally called the office yesterday (1/7) to ask about it, and was once again told that he wasn't in, could he call me back? Sure. Got a call back later the same day; understandably, they're busy as a result of the recent storm, and I was asked if I could be available first thing (7am) tomorrow (today). In the interest of having a toilet that flushed, I said yes and set my alarm for 6:30.
7am came and went. 7:30. At last, at 8am, I heard the sound of doors slamming outside. I asked how long he expected the work to take, since I had an interview I needed to leave for by 9:30. He said it shouldn't be more than hour and that he was late because he "had to get the stuff" to complete the work.
This made for an interesting experience when, at nearly 9am, he said he had to leave to get caulk. Arguably more upsetting is the fact that the entire time he was going in and out - tracking snow throughout the house each time - he left my front door open. Not like, cracked. Wide open. It's currently 19 degrees. Feels like 10. This includes both times he left.
Fortunately, I was able to reschedule the interview, because after I cleaned up the mess he left in my bathroom, I definitely didn't have time to get ready, much less get there in time. The toilet does flush now, but I think that's more a result of it being a new toilet than anything special the technician did.
