I just want to leave a few tips for a "successful" business thats been around since 1983(ish).
1. If someone reserves equipment for a specific day almost 2 weeks in advance, employees should check the items prior to customer arrival. This way, if you're missing parts to the equipment, you could either
a- get what you need from a different location or
b- call the customer and let them know so they don't hurry one job to get to your location before you close only to find out you're missing parts.
Also, by checking the equipment, you can verify its, again, all there, as well as, making sure everything is working properly. This should be common practice in a rental company.
2. Check returned equipment. It was mentioned the last person to rent the equipment "may not have returned" the missing part.
If I'm running a business renting equipment, I would want to be sure ALL the items are returned so I can charge the next person $500+ to rent the equipment for a day. This all seems like common sense to me.
3. Keep the equipment together. If different equipment comes with different parts and pieces, maybe there should be a more strategic way to store the items so you know you have everything you're trying to rent. I would think after being in business for over 40 years, that this would be figured out by now.
4. After realizing you don't have all the parts and pieces, the question of, "do you know plumbing? If I marked off $70, would you want to make a wand for the equipment?"
You want to give me $70 off so I can go to the store, spend at least half of what you gave me on pipe, take time to make what you should've already had available, and then what do I do with the pipe when I'm done? Would you like to buy it from me for a back-up?
Simple job to do and its not being done effectively.

Rented a MUD Mixer for a few concrete pillars and recommend this equipment. You attach a garden hose, drop a bag of concrete in the hopper, turn it on around 25-35 water setting and it’s mixing the concrete in the chute, right into the hole. Has a hose attached to the side of the mixer to wash stuff down as you pour. Easy to move by hand but would need ramps or a buddy to load it into a pickup. I rented a trailer for it, was inexpensive for the trailer so no big deal. The right tool will take all the work out of your job.

Is a deposit required for a reservation?
For customers without a line of credit, Sunbelt Rentals does not require a deposit to rent tools and equipment. However, you will be asked for payment information when you make your reservation. Your credit or debit card will not be charged for the rental period (one ((1)) day minimum) until you pick up the equipment.
For Credit Customers, we will secure a deposit for your reservation. This deposit will be held within your account until the rental equipment is returned and the contract closed. Apply for a credit account here.
If your project is quick and you only need the equipment for a few hours, Sunbelt Rentals does offer a Rapid Return rate. Return the equipment within four (4) hours of the pickup time and we will refund the difference of the Rapid Return rate. Rates will vary based on product. What if I need to keep my equipment longer?
If you need assistance, please contact the branch of the equipment rental and they can extend the rental for you. When you keep the equipment longer, we will add the additional time and charges to your contract and credit card. Please refer to the rental contract, where the day, week and 4-week rates are shown for each piece of tool and equipment.
Can I return rented equipment at any location?
Typically, equipment should be returned to the same location where you initially rented it. If you need to return it to a different location, please contact the store where you rented the equipment for guidance. It’s advisable to call ahead so we can assist you in finding a convenient alternative location for your return. Your convenience is our priority.
What is the cost for the delivery of equipment to my location?
The delivery charge is calculated based on the category and class of equipment, the location of the rental location, the distance of the project site from the rental location.
Can I get tools and equipment delivered to me?
Yes, Sunbelt Rentals offers convenient delivery options from our extensive network of locations for a reasonable fee. When making a reservation, simply select the delivery option. During the reservation process, you can specify the delivery drop-off date and time, as well as your estimated equipment pickup date. The estimate is for our planning purposes and not a final date.
To initiate our equipment pickup service, you must confirm the end of your rental via the app or by phone. Additionally, if you have specific delivery instructions or prefer a designated contact person for coordination, please include those details when submitting your reservation.
For businesses utilizing a commercial credit account, associated delivery and pickup fees will be reflected in your invoice.
To receive notifications about your delivery, adjust your settings in your account to receive reminders and updates related to your delivery and pickup.
What happens if a tool breaks or quits working while I am renting it?
Sunbelt Rentals inspects and services each piece of equipment prior to each rental and should be in good working order. If you experience problems with the tool while renting it, please go to the specific Equipment Detail page within the reservation to request service. If you need additional assistance, please contact the branch of the equipment rental and they can arrange for next steps or a replacement. If you want to have protection in the event of damage, Sunbelt Rentals offers a Rental Protection Plan (RPP), which can be purchased at the start of your rental.
