I Honestly believe these 5 star reviews must be from companies that rent equipment regularly from Sunbelt and not residents. I would completely avoid Sunbelt if you're just a resident looking for a tool to complete a home project. They overcharge on rentals and try to run you around in circles to get your money back.
My wife and I were looking to resurface our concrete basement floor. Menards did not have a tool that could do the job, so we looked elsewhere and found Sunbelt. As we didn't know the size of the machine for the job we needed, my wife called in and asked for recommendations and price estimates. She was told we should get a large dual disc grinder for the job and we asked to reserve it, under the idea that the estimate would come back with an affordable number. Days go by and no estimate email. We call back asking for the estimate, which they say they'll email. Again nothing. We call again and they actually send us the email with the estimate. The estimate doesn't make any sense, but at this point whatever, I'll talk to them in person when I pick the equipment up.
I pick the equipment up and receive an invoice that is cheaper than the "estimate" they sent us. The invoice was completely clear and made sense, so we have no idea where that first estimate was getting its information from. I go to the back of the building to pick up the grinder, just to see a massive machine. The woman on the phone failed to realize that we would be grinding a basement floor, not exterior concrete. I went inside to exchange it for a smaller model, because even if I could get the large dual grinder home, the sheer weight of it would probably destroy my stairs. I loaded up the smaller edger model and went back inside to ask if there was anything I needed to sign for the equipment switch. The woman at the counter told me no, but reprinted the invoice for me. I looked at the invoice and saw the price hadn't changed, but figured the equipment must just be the same price as the one we switched out.
I took it home and finished the job after a few days. The machine and vacuum worked, but it was extremely unprofessional on the level of cleanliness the machines were. They were clearly not cleaned from the previous rental. A mound of drywall dust exploded out of the bottom of the vacuum while I was trying to figure out how it worked, so that was a nice mess to clean up before even starting the job.
I called the following business day to extend the rental since I needed more time. The phone receptionist said we'd be charged the same amount for another day. I finished the job and returned it the next day.
A few weeks later, we find a mysterious third charge from Sunbelt. Before calling I looked into the pricing of what we used and saw that the smaller model was significantly cheaper than the larger model that we had thought we needed in the begining. They never altered the price when I switched the machine to the smaller version and overcharged me. I called and talked to them about the third charge and the overcharge of the machine. The receptionist assured me that the third charge, that was over $200, was a late fee error and it would be refunded along with the difference between the two different machines. I also requested a breakdown of the refund by email, that surprise surprise I never got.
A few days go by and we receive the refund, however, they're around $80 short. I call back again and ask for a breakdown for the refund, which she says she'll email, but again, no email.
I'm at my wits end with Sunbelt at this point, so I call corporate. But corporate tells me since I'm not a business, they can't help me but refer me back to the springfield location. Thankfully the corporate line was able to send me the refund pdf, but the numbers were still completely wrong. I finally get ahold of the manager of the Springfield location who authorizes the rest of the refund.
After almost being overcharged over $350 and dealing with staff who would not give me a straight answer for weeks, I will never be renting from Sunbelt again.

the employees here are quick efficient and helpful. i rented a towable man lift. and had a question on site and was connected to the Forman in less than a minute with the correct answer. Return took less than 5 minutes. pickup took less than 10 including trailer hookup, lift orientation and towing checkout.

Is a deposit required for a reservation?
For customers without a line of credit, Sunbelt Rentals does not require a deposit to rent tools and equipment. However, you will be asked for payment information when you make your reservation. Your credit or debit card will not be charged for the rental period (one ((1)) day minimum) until you pick up the equipment.
For Credit Customers, we will secure a deposit for your reservation. This deposit will be held within your account until the rental equipment is returned and the contract closed. Apply for a credit account here.
If your project is quick and you only need the equipment for a few hours, Sunbelt Rentals does offer a Rapid Return rate. Return the equipment within four (4) hours of the pickup time and we will refund the difference of the Rapid Return rate. Rates will vary based on product. What if I need to keep my equipment longer?
If you need assistance, please contact the branch of the equipment rental and they can extend the rental for you. When you keep the equipment longer, we will add the additional time and charges to your contract and credit card. Please refer to the rental contract, where the day, week and 4-week rates are shown for each piece of tool and equipment.
Can I return rented equipment at any location?
Typically, equipment should be returned to the same location where you initially rented it. If you need to return it to a different location, please contact the store where you rented the equipment for guidance. It’s advisable to call ahead so we can assist you in finding a convenient alternative location for your return. Your convenience is our priority.
What is the cost for the delivery of equipment to my location?
The delivery charge is calculated based on the category and class of equipment, the location of the rental location, the distance of the project site from the rental location.
Can I get tools and equipment delivered to me?
Yes, Sunbelt Rentals offers convenient delivery options from our extensive network of locations for a reasonable fee. When making a reservation, simply select the delivery option. During the reservation process, you can specify the delivery drop-off date and time, as well as your estimated equipment pickup date. The estimate is for our planning purposes and not a final date.
To initiate our equipment pickup service, you must confirm the end of your rental via the app or by phone. Additionally, if you have specific delivery instructions or prefer a designated contact person for coordination, please include those details when submitting your reservation.
For businesses utilizing a commercial credit account, associated delivery and pickup fees will be reflected in your invoice.
To receive notifications about your delivery, adjust your settings in your account to receive reminders and updates related to your delivery and pickup.
What happens if a tool breaks or quits working while I am renting it?
Sunbelt Rentals inspects and services each piece of equipment prior to each rental and should be in good working order. If you experience problems with the tool while renting it, please go to the specific Equipment Detail page within the reservation to request service. If you need additional assistance, please contact the branch of the equipment rental and they can arrange for next steps or a replacement. If you want to have protection in the event of damage, Sunbelt Rentals offers a Rental Protection Plan (RPP), which can be purchased at the start of your rental.
