I was quoted $450 over the phone by their technician for a repair involving a part that costs $55 at Home Depot. After the work was done, I got a surprise callback saying the total was actually $750—with the excuse that the technician “forgot” to mention the rest of the cost. That’s a $300 upcharge after the fact, with zero transparency. Even worse, they tried to charge me an extra $290 for “cleaning the system”—but all they did was swap out the air filter using my own filter. That is not cleaning, that is exploitation. But the most painful part wasn’t even the outrageous pricing—it was the way I was treated. When I tried to question the charges, I was spoken to like I didn’t matter. Mary, the woman on the phone, yelled at me, belittled me, and treated me with open disrespect—all because of my accent. I was calm, polite, and trying to understand why the quote had changed. Instead, I was talked over, ordered around, and told they would never service me again. It was humiliating. I genuinely believe I was racially profiled and dismissed as less than because of how I speak. And that’s not just bad customer service—it’s a serious problem. Avoid this company. No one deserves to be overcharged, misled, and disrespected like this.

So I decided to contact Atomatic and within 24 hours of initial contact they had 2 techs come by and everything was fixed and felt amazing in my place. It timed up perfectly as it was right before a 100 degree weekend in Chicagoland. I highly reccomend calling Atomatic if your home AC is not working!
