Super impressed by Roto-Rooter of Eastern Idaho. We had some main line issues late on a Friday night, called and was seen in less than 12 hours! Little did the tech know I was 8 1/2 months pregnant and we’d shut off our water to stop the flooding. I could’ve hugged him when he got to our house! Any childbearing woman knows the hassle of overnight bathroom trips, I didn’t want to have to go any longer than I had to. We even took trips to the closest gas station late at night and early in the morning. So happy Roto-Rooter saved us from a weekend of endless “potty break” trips! Great folks to work with and extremely helpful with helping us troubleshoot and resolve the issue!

Excellent service! We had some drain issues, we called them and they just came the same day, with very reasonable price and professional technician. Kyle helped us clear the drain and carefully checked that the pipes were draining well afterward, he also explained all the details. Very patient, knowledgeable, and hardworking. We also had Spencer came before, he is awesome too. We’ll definitely call them again. Highly recommended!

Frequently Asked Questions About Roto-Rooter Of Eastern Idaho
What do professional plumbers use to unclog drains?
Professional plumbers typically employ heavy-duty Roto-Rooter machines for effective drain cleaning. These electric devices feature a sturdy steel cable with a sharp blade at the tip. As the cable rotates through the pipe, it cuts away obstructions and can even trim roots along the pipe walls. If this method isn't successful, a video camera inspection may be necessary to identify the blockage's location and cause, allowing the technician to recommend appropriate repair options.
How do you clean a clogged drain?
For minor clogs in sink drains, gentle household solutions like baking soda and vinegar can be effective. More severe clogs might require lye-based cleaners. Hair-clogged tub and shower drains can often be cleared using a zip stick or a modified wire hanger. If these home remedies prove ineffective, it's advisable to schedule a professional drain cleaning service with a company like Roto-Rooter.
How do you treat drain flies?
Drain flies typically lay their eggs in dirty or seldom-used drains. To eliminate them, you can pour a cup of vinegar or bleach down the affected drain to kill the larvae. There are also specialized over-the-counter products designed for this purpose. If the problem persists, it's recommended to contact a professional plumbing service for a thorough drain cleaning.
How often should drains be cleaned?
The frequency of drain cleaning depends on usage and what goes down the drains. Hair and grease are common culprits for household clogs. If multiple drains are slow, the issue may lie in the main sewer line. Common causes of sewer clogs include tree root infiltration, flushed wet wipes, and kitchen grease. Regular professional drain cleaning can help prevent these issues.
What are the warning signs that my main sewer line is backing up?
Several signs indicate a potential main sewer line backup: multiple slow-draining fixtures, gurgling sounds when flushing toilets, water rising in basement floor drains or first-floor bathtubs when toilets are flushed, frequent need for toilet plunging, and sewer odors from drains. If you notice these symptoms, it's advisable to contact a professional plumbing service promptly to address the issue before it escalates.
Do I need a video camera line inspection?
Video camera line inspections are beneficial for quickly identifying underlying issues in sewer or drain lines. They're particularly useful if you experience recurring backups, slow drains, or frequent toilet clogs. The process involves inserting a camera-equipped snake into the pipeline, illuminating the interior to reveal obstructions, cracks, or structural damage. These inspections are also recommended for prospective homeowners before purchasing a property.
How can you tell if your drain needs cleaned?
A clear indicator that your drain needs cleaning is slow drainage. If multiple drains in your home are draining slowly, it's likely an issue with the main sewer line. In such cases, professional cleaning using a Roto-Rooter machine with a sharp, rotating blade is often necessary. It's advisable to contact a plumbing service if you're experiencing persistent slow drains.
How often do I need to pump my septic tank?
The frequency of septic tank pumping generally depends on the number of occupants in your home. As a rule of thumb, most septic tanks should be pumped every three to five years. For a more accurate assessment, it's recommended to schedule a free inspection with a professional septic service.
How does a septic system work?
A septic system functions as a small-scale wastewater treatment facility on your property. It consists of a buried tank and a drain field. The tank separates solids from liquids, while bacteria digest organic matter. The clearer liquid, or effluent, flows into perforated pipes in the drain field, where it's dispersed into gravel and soil for natural purification before rejoining the groundwater.
What happens if I don't pump my septic tank?
Neglecting to pump your septic tank can lead to serious consequences. Solids accumulate, potentially clogging pipes and causing wastewater to back up into your home or overflow into your yard. This can create health hazards, unpleasant odors, and possible contamination of soil and groundwater. Over time, this neglect may damage the drain field beyond repair, necessitating costly system replacement that far exceeds the expense of regular maintenance.
