  NO, I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!! This started with me on 0ct. 6th when an estimator rep came to my house to give me an estimate on a mitigation unit and said that they required one third of the estimate deposit paid down cash or check before doing the work, which ended up being $1,500 and I gave him a check for $1,500 for the deposit. I decided to get some concrete work done on the dirt areas in my basement to get my radon numbers down before they came to install a mitigation unit. My radon numbers were at 29.7, after the concrete work was done, the radon numbers were down to 9.75. I called the initial estimator rep to come and re-evaluate after the concrete work was done for possibly a different radon mitigation unit. The concrete work was done on Nov. 18th and I called the rep immediately after to let him know that the work was done and he could come and do the re-evaluation. I never heard anymore from him so I emailed him On Dec. 11th telling him that he needed to come and do the re-evaluation because my scheduled install date was about 2-1/2 weeks away on Dec. 30th. He would not respond to my correspondence, so I got fed up trying communicate with him with no response back so I requested my deposit of $1,500 back from Sam, Operations Manager at Iowa Radon Defense, since I couldn’t get any communications returned through my emails to him, and said I was going to go somewhere else for the mitigation. So Samantha, the Operations Manager at Iowa Radon Defense, talked me into trying another rep instead, so I did and that went fine. I wanted this done by the December 30th, which I had been on the schedule for since Nov. 19th, in order to get the 2025 tax credit for the mitigation for this year. Got a text Monday, Dec. 29th from the installer saying he’d be here at 9:00 the next morning, Tuesday the 30th, then Tuesday morning he text saying that it would be more like 9:30 before he’d be here, then later another text saying it would be closer to noon! I said forget it!! It takes about four hours for the install, which they should have been here from 8:00 to noon, I had that appointment scheduled for over a month. I had an afternoon appt. that I could not reschedule. The rep called me about this and I said, you know what, I have had to beg you people clear through this whole project to get anything done, for three months, and I’m just DONE, refund my deposit!! The rep said, can you give us another chance, I said absolutely not…three times NO I AM DONE WITH THIS…just send my deposit back!! I have called the office asking when I would be getting my deposit of $1,500 back and one of the gals in the office said that she checked and it was mailed out on Wednesday, Dec. 31st for $1,500. Well, as of today January 9th, I still have not received my deposit and Sam will not return my phone calls on where my money is when I have called that office and left several messages…who steals peoples money like this?! They were a no-show as scheduled, so I am entitled to my whole deposit back! I am a retired senior and I’m not rich by no means! I paid them that $1,500 deposit in good faith and I feel like I’ve just been taken advance of by this company, not my problem that they have communication and commitment issues!! I have all documentation on all the conversations, so I guess I may have to pursue in another direction!!!!

  Rich did a total amazing job Installing a radon defense system! He did a wonderful job explaining everything before the installation and after the installation.

  The technician, Richard Songer, did an excellent job. He was professional and personable, cleaned up the area thoroughly when he was done, and was very patient and kind with my dogs.

  Honesty and transparency are not values of Iowa Radon Defense. This company completely misled us in the initial quote as to how they would install the system. They had absolutely no intentions of installing the discharge pipe in the manner that they quoted and later indicated that they have a company policy preventing them from completing soffit penetration on 2 story homes. While the system meets IA code and functions properly, that wasn’t the only thing we were asking for when we agreed to have them complete the work. I made numerous attempts to discuss our concerns with them and was dismissed with no attempt to resolve the unmet expectations.
