Three separate times now in the last week we have called for diagnostic service of a split ac unit. Twice we were given service windows for the appointment, but never got a confirmation phone call and no one showed up. Once they said they would call the next day to set up an appointment and never did. The second and third time we called we were told that we were marked a "urgent". I don't know how a company with customer service like that stays in business. There are too many options for AC companies on island to put up with this one. Cherry on top is we have a house full of family in town to meet our newborn and we can't even all be in the same room together because everyone is miserable.

Matt Bishaw was very informative and made me feel comfortable. He cleaned our units and gave me good advice. I was having trouble turning one of the units we recently installed off ie., the remote would only work some of the time so he helped me. He has an excellent personality and spoke to me thoroughly about the service plans in a very careing manner. I had wished he was here to explain this before we decided on the install. He didn't make me feel like I was another job or wasting his time. I appreciate Island comfort working with us and hope them a successful future. Although the maintenance and warranty discussion was overlooked in the previous install and no discussion was had until after, I must say this; the installation was done well and these men were focused on the work and not on chit chat or wasting company time. You have good employees. I would very much like to continue to work with your company in the future. I do recommend that all pertinent information be disclosed before hand and I can respect the importance of your business. With that said I look forward to discussions on the matter and hope we can come to an agreement.

This is my first and only negative review of any company on the island, and it's worth sharing to save you the headache. I've been a loyal customer with Island Comfort - O'ahu for six years now, but something has got to give. I initially purchased and had installed by them four whole-home split a/c units and added a fifth just last year. I always keep up with the six month maintenance and even purchased their pre-paid maintenance plan earlier this year. All was going well, until three of the original four units started to either corrode (not just rust), leak, or give out altogether. The parts warranty is good for twelve years, and the labor warranty expires after six. Timely because that's when the units began having problems. Recently, my main unit stopped cooling and when the technician came out he said that it was leaking freon and wanted to charge me over $1k to follow the leak. Funny for that, because I got a second opinion from an a/c repair guy friend who told me that it was the compressor just by eyeballing it. When I called Island Comfort to have another technician come back out to confirm this, the problem was confirmed to be the compressor and, being under warranty, it would be replaced. I refused to pay another diagnostic fee for that screw up and so they ate that expense. When I inquired on the status of that warranty piece, with four calls on 10/15, 10/23, 10/28, and 11/04 and no response to any of my verbal messages left with the phone girl, I was finally told on 11/10 when I called yet again that the part is now obsolete and that they would have to replace the entire unit for a brand new one "free of charge." There are a couple of catches, however ... The *brand new* unit will come with six years taken off the twelve year parts warranty because the faulty, old unit "ate up six years already"... how does that make sense? The warranty is on a specific unit and parts, and has nothing to do with the old one. And I'd also have to pay $150/hour for ~2 hours for the labor to install the new unit that is replacing their faulty unit... how does that, too, make any sense? And for the other two units running into similar issues, one continues to leak for which I have to continue to pay diagnostic and labor fees every time they come out - and after they supposedly fixed it months prior on 02/11/25. They even tried to fault me by stating that I have to keep up with the maintenance, to which I reminded them that I'm on a pre-paid maintenance package with them that has the technicians coming out every six months, and they last came out two months prior to this new leak on 09/11/25. The other unit is corroded (not just rusted, for which I know warranty doesn't cover). It seems to me that their cleaning and maintenance work is lackluster at best. To these points, I say run from this company and its promises of excellent service, support, and 100% customer satisfaction (according to their website). When I ask to speak with the owner to express my sincerest concerns with HIS company, the two ladies that now communicate with me are quick to hesitate. I expect a resolution from the owner to keep his promise of 100% customer satisfaction. The BBB has been notified of this matter.

Jeff came out for a split AC consultation and was extremely knowledgeable and gave honest feedback on the proposed design and my electrical panel. I can tell the company runs on integrity. Highly recommend

Jamie did a phenomenal job from start to finish. He first came two months ago to service my AC and was very thorough regarding the diagnostics as well as everything that had been completed in the service. Yesterday, my AC stopped working and Jamie was able to come today to inspect the issue. He immediately found the issue , which was the converter, and was able to go to the store and purchase a new one right away. After he installed the converter, the AC turned on and was working like new. Jamie explained what the issue was along with a few other tips and tricks to preserve the longevity of my AC. My house had gotten into 86° inside and it’s now at 74! Not only is he incredibly skilled and knowledgeable, he is a great guy. Thank you, Jamie, for saving my day and getting my AC to work!
