Support during the design phase for our new kitchen went really well. Peter Milner took our list of requirements and produced an excellent, practical layout - and included our preferred list of appliances at competitive prices. We also had very good support and advice while deciding on the finishes, with Luke Blackwood standing in when Peter wasn't available.
For the installation, the company VDB Group was suggested, who also did a great job. Hendrik and his team - Jon, Ben, Simon, Mark and Jez - were all friendly and professional, doing their best to minimise what is obviously a disruptive job. There were regular questions during the installation about the details of our requirements, with the result that we've got exactly what were after.
This review would have been 5 stars if there hadn't been a major problem with the AEG induction hob. All went really well until the final completion late in August when, on first use, the AEG hob shut down unexpectedly, showing an "overheating" error message. AEG sent out a subcontract service engineer who, on a visual inspection only, stated that there was an installation problem leading to poor air flow past the electronics. (This proved to be completely wrong.) Then started a protracted back and forth where I sent pictures and video of the problem to Magnet who sent them on to AEG, including tests with a completed unrestricted air flow. Staff at Magnet acknowledged there was a real problem but Customer Support at AEG refused to agree, which appalled me. This dragged on for several weeks and, when I completely lost my patience, Magnet ordered a replacement from Bosch, which was installed just before Christmas and which works exactly as expected. (There will be no AEG products in my house in future.)
It would have been helpful, quicker and much less stressful, if Magnet could have provided their own technical staff member to verify the problem and fight my corner.

Just purchased a new kitchen from Magnet. If you are thinking of using this company and live within the Surrey area, visit the Guildford Branch. Very large, full glass frontage enabling you to see the full kitchens they have to offer in their true colour. If you are looking for a good designer then please use Jason. From the first visit which was approximately an hour and half the kitchen had been planned and by the time I got home, about half an hour, an email had come through showing the full design. Jason knows his stuff and has plenty of helpful ideas and just seems to know what you are looking for with just a few questions. Nothing was too much trouble. Communication was very efficient and constantly kept up to date with everything and giving helpful suggestions with accessories and appliances and worktops. Even though we used our own fitters he was happy to speak to them on a couple of occasions to clarify things they were not quite sure of, always having an answer. So nice in today's climate to find a polite and genuine friendly person that knows their product with no hard sale techniques.

At the moment, our Guildford store doesn't have its own parking. Don't worry, though! Even without on-site parking, there are plenty of handy options right around the corner, depending on what you need.
