Avoid Magnet Kitchens Reading
What should have been an exciting new kitchen turned into a complete nightmare. Our working dishwasher was removed and they tried to replace with a damaged returned one, which the store manager, said “wouldn’t be noticeable.”
We went away for a week to allow work to start and returned to a messy house, a toilet left in a disgraceful state (we have two young children), damaged doors, badly cut units, scuffs, and poor workmanship throughout.
There was zero communication between Magnet, the fitter, and ourselves. The fitter repeatedly left our job half-finished to start others, leaving us without cooking facilities while our dining room was full of appliances. We had to constantly chase and even escalate to the regional manager.
Magnet tried to charge £350 for a plumber due to poor surveying ( No service void was allowed for). This was only resolved after further complaints. Appliances were fitted incorrectly (including a tumble dryer door fitted backwards), taking three attempts to fix. Poorly fitting universal vents were installed in what is meant to be a “bespoke” kitchen. Plus many many more.
Due to long delays, we had to pause finance payments for an unfinished kitchen. Finally have a finished kitchen 4 months in. I work in the building industry and this is the worst I’ve seen in 18 years of my career.
Worst experience we’ve ever had. Stressful, badly managed, and unacceptable. Do not use – stay well clear.

I had issues with my wall bifold cabinets from Magnet. When the cabinets open, even though they were adjusted smoothly, the design causes the doors to put pressure on the hinges as they fold. This appears to be a design fault, as the hinges clearly need more stability — ideally a metal reinforcement plate rather than weak carcass wood.
I contacted Magnet Kitchens in Reading and spoke to the store manager, Lucian Parau. Before I could fully explain the issue, he immediately claimed there was “moisture” in the kitchen. After I sent the first set of photos, he then said we must have pulled the doors off the hinges. When I sent a second set of photos, the explanation suddenly changed again to “adjustment issues” with the Blum mechanisms.
The responses were inconsistent and unhelpful, and it was clear that the manager had little understanding of the problem. My experience dealing with him was very disappointing, especially compared to the previous manager, Gabby, who was always knowledgeable and helpful.
Overall, the product quality has been poor, and the customer service even worse. I would advise anyone considering shopping here to be cautious, as you may end up wasting both time and money as the manager will not support.

Very friendly and helpful manager. What was once a low-end range of poorly made kitchen furniture is now a top quality selection of well-made cabinets and extras. Very pleasantly surprised. And the prices are pretty good too.
