Mis-sold Flooring, Zero Aftercare, and Complete Abandonment
We purchased a £20,000+ kitchen package from Magnet (Isle of Wight branch), including over £3,000 for Amtico Click Smart flooring and installation recommended by their store team.
While the main kitchen cabinetry itself is good, Magnet’s post-installation aftercare has been utterly disgraceful. The moment the money cleared, any sense of customer support or ownership vanished.
What Happened:
During the initial home survey, Magnet’s designer physically inspected our kitchen and was shown our previous floor, which had bowed due to extreme solar heat gain from south-facing bi-fold doors. Despite this visual evidence, Magnet specified and sold us a floating click-LVT floor.
Following installation, the floor bowed severely. An independent site inspection carried out by Amtico International recorded floor surface temperatures reaching 53.7°C and noted that Click Smart flooring is explicitly excluded from conservatory-like conditions by the manufacturer.
A remedial attempt by their recommended fitter failed.
The Aftercare Failure: Rather than standing behind their service, Magnet Head Office has completely washed their hands of the matter. They have issued a final rejection letter, hiding behind the excuse that the plastic tiles aren't manufacturing-defective and deflecting blame onto the fitters they recommended and introduced.
We have had to forcefully chase every single update for months, constantly battling unkept promises and ignored deadlines. Spending £20,000+ with a national brand should buy peace of mind and accountability—instead, Magnet abandoned us with an ugly, unserviceable floor and took zero responsibility for a clear sales error.
The matter is now being handled externally via Section 75 legal recovery and the Furniture & Home Improvement Ombudsman.
Be extremely cautious before trusting Magnet with your aftercare.

Fantastic from start to finish! Chris was amazing and helped us to design our dream kitchen 2 years ago. Everything was superb and we couldnt be happier with everything!
