- MMMeredith MartinOct 20, 20253.0Just used Top Notch. The pros are the young man was knowledgeable and personable. He diagnosed the problems and fixed the ones I wanted fixed (I hope ). The cons-I think they are very expensive on their labor costs. Because of that, I would not use again. Don't fall for the waived charge for coming out because the other labor costs greatly out shadow that. He put in two new sensors and the cost was $319.83. Of that $139 was the new sensors-rest labor. It took approximately 10 minutes or less to install This is an addition to my post since the owner responded. I appreciate that he did so but I would suggest he look at his timeline. Most of the 27 minutes were taken up by the tech suggesting I replace all roller ($800+) If I did that, they were going to include the labor on the sensors. This without even trying the garage doors. With each negotiation, he would have to go back to the truck, recalculate and come back with a new price. In the end I decided to only replace the sensors. Now all this time I have been with him and he has not touched the garage doors, motors etc. When I said I would do the sensor, he said it would take him about 10 minutes. When he was done, I told him I though the labor charge was high (not his fault). I went up to get my check book and came right back down. During those few minutes, if he totally serviced my motor, tracks, etc, I shudder to see the quality of other services. He did spray grease on the rollers while I went upstairs with no charge. I did not ask him to do so and actually would have preferred he did not because it over sprayed on the walls and now I have grease spots on paint. The whole thing is not a big deal but believe me I did not receive a free tune up.
