    Called in the morning and had Talen come out that afternoon to install a part on our HVAC system. Talen was super friendly, courteous and knowledgeable, he explained exactly what he was going to do and showed me that the part installed was functioning properly. Great service, great tech and great experience.

    I called this company because my outdoor unit was frozen and not defrosting properly, which I clearly explained when scheduling the service call. The technician thawed the unit, checked refrigerant (it was low), and recommended a leak test, which I approved. I was then told the system wasn’t defrosting due to low refrigerant and that I needed either an evaporator coil replacement or a full system replacement. I also asked them to listen to a compressor noise on shutdown and was told it was a concern, despite it having existed for years without issue. What was not done was testing of the defrost board or defrost sensor — the main reason for my call. Despite this, they quoted $2,600 to replace the evaporator coil (including labor) and never quoted or identified the failed defrost board or sensor. After the visit, a salesperson spent nearly four hours reviewing full system replacement options only. I later received a replacement quote from another company that was $6,000 less than this company’s base quote and nearly $20,000 less than their highest option. A third company immediately tested the defrost board, confirmed it had failed, and stated the compressor noise was normal. They explained that evaporator coil leaks are common on ~10-year-old units and that adding refrigerant was a reasonable option to extend the system’s usable life. Total repair cost (excluding a future evaporator coil replacement) was under $1,000, with the evaporator coil quoted at about $1,000 more. This felt far more like a sales-driven process than a diagnostic service call. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion.
