I shopped around when it was clear I needed to fully replace my HVAC after some failed repair attempts. Moncrief was not only the most fairly priced, but also the most transparent and professional. Moncrief came out the same day I called when our heat stopped working. They quickly ordered the needed part, replaced the motor, and had our heat back on within a few hours of my initial call. We had two different technicians at our home, and both were professional, courteous, and very helpful. Highly recommend.

I’ve been a customer for over 25 years. A week ago one of my 12 year old furnaces stopped working, so I called and a technician determined that a heat exchanger had failed with potential carbon monoxide leaks. The heat exchange was covered under warranty, but the labor was not covered. The estimate to replace caused me to consider a new unit. Even though I’ve been extremely happy with Moncrief, I felt that I should get 3 estimates, so I called 2 other very well known HVAC companies. The first company gave me an estimate within one day and pointed out some installation changes pertaining to return air that would allow my system to operate more efficiently. I was very impressed. They provided an estimate the next morning, which included 2 years of free semi-annual service and a long term free labor feature. I definitely felt they would be a contender and I might just switch to their company.
The second, very well known company sent an extremely knowledgeable person to give me an estimate. He too noticed the same need for a change in installation, that would increase the efficiency of the furnace. Extremely well prepared, surveyed the house, with complete drawings. I was very impressed. I felt that they would be in the running to replace Moncrief, but surprisingly, they never provided an estimate!
Ken Moran, from Moncrief came out to give me an estimate. I did not mention the need for changes in the return air recommendation that the other 2 representatives had noticed, but Ken saw the problem and we talked about different ways to fix that problem. Ken knew what he was doing and sent an estimate the next day.
It was a somewhat difficult decision to make between the two companies-the cost of the new installation was virtually identical -of course I’ve still not gotten an estimate from the 3rd company. I made the decision to stay with Moncrief, as I’ve always been extremely satisfied with their work and since I have a service contact, they always responded very quickly if I have a problem.
The installation technicians were Dillan Moore and Blaine Tandler, very nice and knowledgeable. I think it took them about 6-8 hours to remove the old furnace and install the new furnace-they did a great job. There was a problem with the old thermostat so they checked with another long term Moncrief employee, Bobby Berry and he came out to check the installation and figured out that the original thermostat needed to be replaced. As I understand, the thermostat is pretty expensive, but was covered at no cost with my service agreement.
Unfortunately an hour after the installation team left the new system stopped working. It was getting late in the day, but I called Moncrief and within an hour Robby Carus, who has been with Moncrief since 1986 came out to diagnosis the problem. He quickly determined that one of the drainage pumps-13 years old-had failed because of accumulated debris and dirt. He replaced the pump to fix the problem-again at no cost to me with my service agreement. I also asked him to reroute one of the drainage pipes leading to that pump. He was very pleasant and of course highly knowledgeable, with his long years of experience.
So to sum up, even though one other company not only gave a great effort to win my business, I’m extremely happy to stay with Moncrief!
