I purchased a townhouse in Chestnut Grove, Douglasville, GA. I was living on the west coast and moving to GA. For a $300,00 home the cabinets, faucets are lightweight and cheap looking and they called them upgraded. I have purchased several homes which cost a lot less and those items were not upgraded, but the material & height of cabinets are better. First time I ever purchased a home and no garage opener, no towel racks in bathroom. For warranty repairs the 2-10 warranty site is a joke. Because, they are still building in the subdivision I see some of the guys working with the crew and get them to take care of things in my home. I submitted a warranty to 2-10 on November 6th and have not heard from them or anyone about taking care of the issue. Why does Starlight go through 2-10 to get warranty issues taken care of? Every home I have purchased in the past with other builders have there warranty section, when I submitted an issue I received an email or phone call within 24 hours and a date is setup to get the repairs taken care of. Why do Starlight pay 2-10 instead of paying employees to take of warranty issues. As I have said before 2-10 warranty is a joke, they have not once contacted me about warranty issue I have submitted. Getting in contact with Starlight Corporate Office seems to be nonexistence. When trying to contact corporate all you get is the sells rep in that subdivision. When or if I had an issue it was easy for me to pick up the phone and call or send an email. I feel stuck in a home I was hoping to get good service as I have with other builders

As a first-time homebuyer, I was initially excited about purchasing my home. However, after two years of homeownership, I’ve come to regret choosing Starlight. The community was advertised as a “gated community,” yet it is not fully enclosed. The unfinished back gate, located near a main road, highway, and two gas stations, provides open access to the neighborhood. This has resulted in an increase in foot traffic from individuals who do not reside in the community, raising serious safety and security concerns. When I brought this issue to the attention of the HOA, I was informed that the back gate was designed for aesthetic purposes rather than safety—an explanation that I find disappointing and misleading based on how the community was marketed.

As a potential home owner for a Starlight home, I'm very disappointed in the experience. Looking for a home I was approved from my own Lender. As most new build communities, Starlight encouraged me to go with their Lender for a lower interest rate and Closing cost to be covered by them. Going against my initial conviction of having my credit being pulled again I decided to give it a try. Bec this was my 1st home purchase I found it odd that $2500 earnest money was needed prior to being approved. 3 days later I wasn't approved by their lender. I requested my earnest money to be returned back to me. Now mind you, I submitted my earnest money ACH electronically. I was told that the process was different returning the earnest money. It's always an concern when money in the form of a check is put in the mail for normal delivery. Today, Wed, Oct 2, I'm still without my $2500 earnest money after 29 days. I asked If I could pick the check up. I was told that that was not how they did things. I then asked if it could be sent certified at my cost, I was told that that was not an option. I felt a sense of urgency on their end to send my earnest money electronically but no sense of urgency in getting my $2500 back to me. I've spoken to Matthew Taylor (Gen Mgr) and Selena Gilbert (seller agent). I've sent several text to both with no return call back or no attempt to offer any solutions or directives in the matter. Granite, the check hasn't reached my hands at fault of the USPS but who sends a check in the mail with windows in the envelope. I received email notifications of mail to be delivered but what I noticed in the screenshot of the envelope is I can see the check amount and my name which can tempt any dishonest person to think that maybe they can fraudulently attempt to cash the check. I feel Starlight is negligent and irresponsible in getting money back to any person that is shopping for a home. It's an inconvenience in my time and a true inconvenience in holding up returning the money that I may need for the next home that I may be interested in. Ironically, while submitting this review, Mia from the Covington location called me back while no one else has and she's not evenin involved in my transaction in any shape or form. Starlight has terrible business practices. Fact, I'm under contract now. Fact, while it's a new build it's not my forever home. Fact, I will never buy from Starlight and I will tell ALL of my family. friends and associates never to buy from Starlight. Interestingly enough, I have associates that are looking currently and other friends that will be looking next year. I will definitely share my experience and have them read the reviews to determine if they want the headache of dealing with a builder that has no honor or value in offering a good product/service to the consumer/buyer that will be taking on a costly purchase of a home. I'm disappointed to say the least. I'm wondering if their policy is more abt collecting interest on the money in the Starlight acct bec its definitely not abt creating good experiences for everyone to share with potential home buyers. Starlight sucks!!! Bridgett P, Atlanta/North Fulton/Union City, Ga

My husband and I entered into a contract with Starlight with the homes they are building in Cartersville. After signing the contract on both ends we were told to wait on paying the earnest money that solidifies the contract because there had been an error on their end in regards to the pricing of the home. The next day they increased the price of the home by 8K and told us that they cannot sell at that price because it is too cheap and cheaper than the other homes that it was their mistake and that they understand if we do not want to move forward anymore. In what professional word does this happen?? When we asked them how I they can do this after the contract was signed they told us because the earnest money wasn’t paid the contract can be nullified on their end. Funny, did you catch the part where they told us not to pay the earnest money the day before. Foul play! Zero customer service. Zero internal affairs. Zero ethics.
