His attention to detail during the framing phase really set the foundation literally and figuratively for the remainder of the project to proceed smoothly! He problem solves and will not be content with mediocre. His goal is to have the homeowners love the end result…and we do!

  I recently purchased a home where ZMC did a full remodel in 2015 for $100K+. The previous work included an addition, full kitchen remodel, and significant interior work. We had ZMC come out in 2022 to quote some additional work. Our interaction went as follows: - Contacted put initial consultation deposit/trip charge of $800 in June. Scheduled consult for mid-July 2022 - Two days after the deposit was paid, ZMC pushed back the site visit an entire month to mid-August When ZMC showed up with the engineer, we discussed new plans for an outdoor kitchen, bathroom remodel, and garage opening enlargement. We also discussed defects from the original work back in 2015 that included: - Sliding patio door installed inside out (I know it sounds strange, but they were installed with the screen on the inside - the screen cannot be moved outside as the grooves for the doors and the screen are different and thus can't simply be swapped) - Another slider was installed with insufficient clearance, so now the door cannot be removed from the frame to change or lubricate the rollers - Cracks in the ceiling and around crown molding where ZMC installed a beam with insufficient rigidity that ended up flexing After the consult, ZMC quoted another $3,500 to obtain drawings of our entire plans, or $2,000 for drawings of the garage alone. ZMC would not provide a quote, or even a ballpark estimate, until after we paid for the entire permittable drawings. Additionally, ZMC did not seem concerned about the prior work quality and talked about "just putting some caulk" along the cracking in the middle of the ceiling. Some settling is normal and I don't expect a lifetime warranty, but no other fixes were offered (whether free or for-charge) as part of the process. Based on these prices and interactions, we decided not to use ZMC construction for our project. The quality of work from 2015 that we have observed does not appear to be of sufficient quality to justify their high up-front prices, and asking for thousands of dollars up front before providing any quote or ballpark estimate does not seem to align with the rest of the market for our job. We have since had two other GCs come out at no charge to quote our job, and have decided to move forward with one that is transparent and up-front with their pricing.
