Honest, Reliable, and Cost-Effective Remediation & Construction If you ever experience flood damage—or even minor water intrusion—call Damage Control Construction (DCC) FIRST. They also handle non-emergency construction and remodeling, but our experience with them has been in disaster remediation, particularly after Hurricanes Idalia and Helene. Our remediation following Idalia was flawless, while Helene presented some challenges, leading to a just a tiny single-star deduction. Rather than breaking it down into a false binary of pros and cons, I’ll share why we still highly recommend them, along with a few things to keep in mind. Challenges to Be Aware Of: 1. Emergency Work Happens Fast—Expect Imperfections Remediation is time-sensitive, which means speed sometimes comes at the cost of precision. While DCC does excellent work, emergency drywall cuts and demo can leave some rough edges. Over time, as they gain more experience, their finishing touches will likely become even more refined. However, no matter how seasoned a company is, emergency demo will always leave some imperfections, so set realistic expectations. 2. Contents Disposal Requires Personal Oversight In the aftermath of Helene, some items were discarded that, in hindsight, probably shouldn’t have been. This is not a criticism of DCC alone—it's just a reality of disaster response. If you want a third party to handle your belongings, either oversee the process yourself or send someone you trust to supervise. It’s an emotionally and practically significant task, and having a familiar face with a lot of time to invest be involved can make all the difference. 3. Temporary Labor Requires Extra Supervision Finding good workers after a storm is difficult. While the team DCC assembled was willing to work, they lacked a personal connection to us, which led to some carelessness—particularly in contents disposal. Without direct oversight, they leaned toward mass disposal over careful sorting. The solution? If you're working with DCC after a disaster, ask for a supervisor to be on-site and stay in constant communication to ensure accountability. Why We Would Still Choose DCC (for water intrusion) Every Time: ✔ They will never rip you off. DCC finds ways to save you money without cutting corners, but they are also honest about when there are no shortcuts. With mold remediation, they take no chances. ✔ They are honest about water classification. Some companies will inflate the severity of your water damage to maximize insurance payouts and profit margins. Servpro once falsely classified our water as black water—a decision that could have doubled our expenses. DCC, by contrast, was honest when we dealt with both gray water (Idalia) and true black water (Helene), treating each situation appropriately. ✔ They genuinely care about your health and safety. The main DCC staff treats you like a person, not just a client. They know you have to live in your space again, and they take that responsibility seriously. ✔ They are significantly more affordable than major remediation companies. We compared costs, and big-box remediation companies charge nearly double for a fraction of the care and attention to detail that DCC provides. Bottom Line: Water intrusion is tricky and expensive, but if you want the best results for the best price, DCC is the company to call. Despite a few challenges, we would absolutely use them again and wholeheartedly recommend them to others.

We were very lucky to be introduced to Damage Control Construction. Our newly renovated 31,00 square foot building was totally flooded after Hurricane Milton. They first restored the damage & then helped us put it back together as they are a construction company as well. They worked quickly and were so precise with all the detail in our building. Each team that came in was pleasant and easy to communicate with.I would highly recommend them to anybody whether it's restoration or construction of a home or building.

After hurricane damage to our home, Kevin and his crew came to our rescue. He explained everything in detail, worked with our insurance and started immediately. Ceilings fell, walls were damaged and we were overwhelmed. Kevin and his crew removed all the debris, and used fans and dehumidifiers to keep mold from developing further. They did excellent work repairing our home. I can't say enough about his care, concern and professionalism. I highly recommend Damage Control Construction for not only damage repair but also for remodeling.

The team at Damage Control, Kevin, Dane, and Sam, helped me restore my kitchen after a leaky pipe flooded our home and caused a mold infestation. Their knowledge, expertise, and patience helped me navigate this restoration process. Their work on this project exceeded my expectations. Throughout the reconstruction, they were consistently professional, answered all my questions, provided me with information and options to make good decisions about what was needed and how to save money, and counseled and prepared me with what would happen at each step. They genuinely care about their clients and I recommend working with them.
