Buying a home is one of the biggest financial and emotional decisions a person can make. It’s not just a transaction — it’s your future, your stability, and a huge leap of trust. That’s why our experience with Richmond American Homes in this community was so incredibly disappointing.
We had concerns that needed to be addressed — nothing unreasonable, nothing that couldn’t have been handled with a straightforward phone call. Yet, despite repeatedly asking to speak to her directly, Laquita Milton (Director of Sales) refused to get on the phone with us. Furthermore, unlike other managers, her phone number wasn’t even included in her email signature ensuring there was no way to contact her other than via email.
More concerning, she made a decision that significantly impacted us. It was a decision that raised serious questions on our end, yet every request to discuss it by phone or receive a clear explanation was declined. When a manager makes impactful decisions but refuses direct conversation or accountability, it understandably creates concerns about transparency and customer care.
By the end of this experience, we felt completely unheard and unvalued. Instead of feeling like we were working with a builder who cared about their buyers, it felt adversarial — like we were on opposite sides. That is not what buyers expect — or deserve — when making such an important investment.
If you are interested in this community, we’d advise you to carefully consider whether this level of communication, transparency, and responsiveness aligns with your expectations before committing to a purchase. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend it.

This 1 star is for the people at this company (described below). If I were only rating them it would be 5 stars. Unfortunately, they have a manager there who destroys the home buying experience and excitement that should come with it. If it weren't for the people below, the rating would be 0 stars due to the poor customer experience I have witnessed after regretfully referring a family member to this community and builder.
Whitney Hall genuinely wanted me to be happy with my home and home buying experience. She is hands down the best in the business. Not only was she communicative, knowledgeable, kind, sincere, and trustworthy, she also made closing day special for my family and I by helping us stage a "rental tour" for our kids to surprise them with their new home. She truly goes above and beyond! I also want to mention Mike Schmit and Liz Lambert at Home American Mortgage (Richmond American preferred lender), as they made the mortgage process seamless. Both of them were always available for my (many) questions as a first-time home buyer, which is very important because it can be unnerving making a huge purchase for the first time. Mike was so patient and worked to get us into the best financial situation available to us. Liz was also helpful in getting us to the closing table by reaching out to other parties to get our title/closing questions answered. John Douglas, Rafael Gomes, and Todd McCumber on the construction side also genuinely want you to be happy with your home. Rafael spent hours doing our walkthroughs with us (it is a very large home) and when we had some things we were less than happy with John ensured everything was fixed to our satisfaction. Todd is extremely respectful, kind, and validates your concerns. Lastly, I want to mention Evan Santos in the warranty department. He has been so patient and kind with our (many) questions. Not only that, but he gets the job done. When he came out for our 30 day warranty review you could tell he wanted to get our questions answered and address the few minor items that need attention, as evidenced by the contractors promptly sending emails to get appointments scheduled.

Hello,
I wanted to share my experience with Richmond Homes at Grandview Gardens in DeLand, FL. Our agent agent Whitney was amazing literally a 10/10!
We drove from West Palm Beach to see the homes and she took the time to show us all of the available homes and was incredibly knowledgeable about the products. She answered all of our questions and made us feel comfortable throughout the entire process.
We haven’t purchased yet but,I have toured other properties and my experience was not the same. I needed to give praise where praise was due and thank her publicly for the effort she made to help us as we navigate this process.
