He responded quickly through Angie's List and called me to set up a visit to get an estimate together. He was right on time and generated my quote quickly. Spoke on the phone with Robin the co-ordinator and got my installation date booked. The day of the install their crew showed up right on time and began the 100% removal of the old fence and installed the new one all in the same day, keep in mind that I only have 300 linear feet of fence. All complete on what seemed like the hottest day of the year and cleaned up any debris that was generated. We are very pleased with the results and fully recommend them to anyone.

How long will the fence last under normal circumstances?
The lifespan of fencing materials varies. Pressure-treated fences typically last 10-12 years, while locust posts can endure for over 20 years. Untreated rails generally last 6-8 years, and cedar fencing has a lifespan of 10-15 years. Please note that these are average estimates and actual longevity may differ based on specific conditions.
Can split rail fence be used to contain dogs?
Split rail fencing can indeed be used for dog containment. We recommend attaching welded wire to a 3-rail fence, with the wire reaching 4 feet high. This combination provides an effective solution for most dog breeds.
How much fence will I need?
To determine the amount of fencing needed, divide the total linear footage of your area by the rail size. You'll require one post per section, plus an additional post at the end. For 2-rail or 3-rail fences, you'll need 2 or 3 rails per section, respectively. Remember to account for corners, ends, and gates in your calculations.
Do you fill the holes with gravel or concrete?
We use concrete for all gate posts. This applies to every post, whether it’s for vinyl, aluminum, wood privacy, or chain link fencing, ensuring strong, stable support that lasts.
What is the chemical used for pressure treating?
Our pressure-treated wood uses ACQ, a copper-based chemical. This EPA-approved preservative has replaced arsenic-based treatments, offering effective protection while being relatively safe for use around people and pets due to its copper content.
Do I need to do anything to preserve the wood?
Pressure-treated wood, cedar, and locust don’t need extra protection to last. For natural rails, applying a high-quality wood sealer will help maintain the wood and extend its lifespan.
How big are your gates?
We offer single gates in widths of 36", 42", 48", 60", and 72". These can be combined to create double gates spanning 7', 8', 10', and 12'. Our gates stand 54" tall to match 3-rail fences but can be adjusted for 2-rail systems. For wider openings, we suggest aluminum frame farm gates, available in various sizes.
What does delivery and installation cost?
Installation costs depend on your site conditions, including ground type, rocks, and fence style. Delivery fees vary by distance. We can set up a free estimate for you—just call or email us with your address to get started.
How long does it take to turn around an order?
Deliveries usually take around two days, depending on our schedule. Installations are typically set about two weeks after order acceptance to allow for utility markings. During busy spring months, scheduling may take longer.
Is split rail fence good for horses?
Three-rail split rail fencing works very well for horses and other livestock. Pressure-treated wood is a common choice, but natural locust is ideal for horses that chew wood (“cribbers”) since it’s chemical-free. We also provide slip board fencing for horse paddocks, and rails can be swapped with oak or hemlock for added strength.
