Don't believe the 5-star reviews. The Degree technicians told me that if you write a 5-star review for them, they receive a bonus. I did this for them myself, but it does not reflect my views of the company. It is the worst I've EVER dealt with. If I wrote about ALL the problems I had with them, it would be a book. I will cover just a few of the MANY. When my boiler started to go, Degree sent a salesman who convinced me to switch to a wall-based boiler system, saying it was energy efficient and almost the same cost as a regular boiler (One of Degree's own technicians later told me that was a lie). After Degree installed the system, it didn't pass a town inspection, and Degree needed to return to do it right. Then, I was without heat almost immediately. The technician they sent saw the system and said, "oh, Degree scammed you into buying that, huh?" He wasn't sure how to fix it. While he was able to eventually get the heat going, he couldn't fix the fact that the water was scalding / dangerously hot (140 degrees - max should be 125). I mentioned this to each technician who came over the course of the next YEAR, and all were "new" to maintaining this kind of system and were perplexed. They never could fix the problem. Each told me they would escalate to management, but I never received a call. Finally, I called customer service to report my dissatisfaction, and they told me they'd escalate to management. I still never received a call back until I wrote them that I was going to report the issue to NBC's local consumer complaints department. Then the manager called with a series of excuses (the 'bad' technicians were let go, as was the sales guy; and the customer service was a third-party - as if that makes Degree not responsible). I told him that the manual said the system is supplied with an automatic mixing valve which was never installed - and failure to do so could lead to injury or death. He assured me that the mixing valve was unnecessary, and he'd send yet another technician. That person came and after a couple of hours, he acknowledged the mixing valve should have been installed. As soon as he installed it, the water temperature was corrected. After all that, Degree had the audacity to try to sell me an AC replacement system. I got a second opinion from a competitor who quoted me - for the exact same parts / brands - $3,600 less than Degree (with whom I had been a customer for 5 years). I went with the competitor, and I've had zero issues. They were wonderful. Now, back to the 1.5 -year-old heating system Degree installed - it has broken twice more since they fixed the water temperature. Now I have no hot water or heat at all. Degree came to diagnose and gave me an estimate for repairs. I called their competitor (who had replaced my AC) for a second opinion, and they discovered that the Degree technician hadn't even pointed out a leaking part (which was obvious once the cover was removed). Even with that added repair, their estimate to fix the issues was hundreds less than Degree's. Needless to say, I am done with Degree. And again, I didn't even list the many other lesser issues I had with them over the years. Trust me - avoid them.

Dan O. was great. We tried upgrading to a nest thermostat which the cooling worked but not the heat. When Dan got to the house he got right into it and was able to tell me what the problem was. He didn’t sugar coat or anything. He got straight to the point. Told me either go with the old thermostat which would be quick or go through the strenuous process of running wires and playing detective. Was even able to put the old thermostat back. As it turned out the previous owners put in a system that would have to be separated if we wanted to go with a nest thermostat. Even remembered us and the house from his visit 3 years ago. Very knowledgeable and was able to give us options to think about for the future in case something happens.

My Rinnai tankless water heater was acting up. Mike was able to quickly diagnose the issue and fixed it in the same visit. He gave a clear explanation of the problem and gladly answered all my questions and concerns. He was also exceptionally polite and respectful. I am always glad to find someone who does such good work, and is also so pleasant to work with. I greatly appreciated his level of skill and professionalism.
Also, scheduling the appointment was easy. They were able to fit me in promptly, and had good communication updates around when I could expect the technician to arrive the day of.
I would definitely use this company again. Thanks again, Mike!
