Our water heater was going out and with the great reviews for this business we scheduled an appointment and signed up for the year long plan to get some great benefits for the year. First appointment day tech was over two hours past the 4 hour window given so we couldn’t be home longer to accommodate the appointment that day. When the tech did come out a few days later, he said our water pressure was too high and needed to install a flow restrictor where the water comes into our home (never been told this by previous plumbers we used), then we were given a slew of other problems needing attention, to which the tech could not fully answer our questions. Long story short, we were quoted almost $7k for the new water heater install and the other things related to the install we were told about. This seemed high so we got a second opinion and had the replacement done by a reputable company we have used in the past for less than half the cost of what was quoted by JN. Proceed with caution if you use them as they seem to be egregious with their pricing and sent out a tech that couldn’t fully answer a single question we asked and left us more confused when he left than before.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Service from Darion at Jim Needham Plumbing! I recently had Darion from Jim Needham Plumbing replace the pressure relief valve on my gas water heater, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. He arrived on time, explained exactly what needed to be done in clear, easy-to-understand terms, and completed the job quickly and professionally. Darion was incredibly knowledgeable, taking the time to answer all my questions and making sure I felt confident about the repair. What really stood out was how kind, polite, courteous, and genuinely friendly he was — he treated my home with respect and made the whole process stress-free. If you need reliable, honest, and top-notch plumbing service, I highly recommend Jim Needham Plumbing and specifically Darion. He’s a true professional who clearly takes pride in his work. I’ll definitely be calling them again for any future needs!

My water heater failed, and I made the mistake of calling this company based on their online reviews. A technician came out and quoted me $9,748 for a 50-gallon Bradford White heater, a water pressure regulator, and a basic quarter-turn valve. Let that sink in—nearly ten thousand dollars for a standard installation. When I questioned the price, the only explanation I got was, “gas is expensive.” No breakdown, no justification—just that. I paid the service fee and showed him the door. I then called a truly reputable company and had the exact same work completed for $3,400 by a seasoned professional who did an excellent job. Same equipment, same scope—less than half the price. There’s a difference between making a profit and trying to take advantage of someone in a stressful situation. This quote wasn’t just high—it was outrageous. If this is how they do business, people should think twice before letting them anywhere near their home. Greed kills!

I honestly wanna give a much better review if only because of the people that came to visit but… I called because I own a home in the city of Westminster, which evidently is incredibly difficult to do backflow test testing in. And he’s a very special certification if it is a residential property, which is what I happen to own. In calling, I shared that with a lady that I live in a single-family townhome and need a backflow inspection done. I asked if they were certified and to each question they responded yes. having gone through this experience last year, I asked very specific questions because last year was incredibly frustrating - I had four different plumbers come out and told me that they couldn’t and finally the fifth one said he could. Come to find out when the plumber actually arrives. He says we only do commercial you need to ask for a very specific test. He was super friendly. He really tried to help me find a service much more than the woman that I that initially answered. For him five star service really great clearly knows what he’s doing. Three stars for the woman that answer the phone.

My water heater was leaking and i knew i needed a replacement i called this company since they had high reviews, i had to pay 49.95 just to get a quote since they had to be here in person. The tech that came out was nice and considerate, they were wearing shoe covers for inside and they knew what they were talking about. The longer the appointment went the more they were trying to upsell me on things like adding a softener, signing up for their membership replacing other things that currently wasnt the focus or of importance by comparison. As nice as they were i wonder if it wasnt just part of high pressure sales tactics, they offered me 3 options 12k for a water heater replacement, adding a softener and some other things essentially their "care package", for 9k they would would replace it but no bells or whistles and the last option was we provide our own water heater and they charge 3500 for labor. They were really trying to sell us on the more expensive options. We had a power vent so they are a little more expensive but can be found for 700-1500. Even with mark ups it was overpriced and you can really see this discrepancy from 3500 option to the 9000 option this is a 5500 difference for what storage, transportation, maybe getting a more expensive model? Regardless it doesn't add up. They ended up saying they had an apples to apples guarantee that essentially means price match +100 extra off, while boosting they had competitive pricing. At one point they mentioned the overhead costs and thats why it was so expensive but we wouldnt find a better deal, I told them we would pass and get some more quotes and if those quotes came in around the same price we would go with them for their honestly and i wasnt looking to save a few hundred dollars. If I could save 2k plus sign me up. The reason I didn't take them up on the apples to apples is because claiming to have competitive pricing and willing to price match if there is better was rubbing me the wrong way since they wanted the work to go through them right on the spot and in my situation I did find better and I'm almost positive they wouldnt have price matched matched 5300$ heater and labor from one company or 4600$ by lowes going through their installs team which are fantastic to deal with in my personal experience of this issue. Regardless even if they made it no hassle to price match it was extremely dishonest to me and that alone would turn me away and also why I didn't bother. After i turned them away i asked for the techs business card 3 times so i could follow up if what they said was actually true after getting other quotes. Eventually I got one but it was a generic card with not even the techs name on it. You could tell the tech was disheartened/disappointed mentioning i would call them back and he might have realized how ridiculous the pricing was the only one that was realistic in my situation was the provide your own water heater option and even then thats not realistic for everyone. That is a 5500 price difference from 3500 to 9000 if you bought theirs. Im a bit annoyed that i essentially paid 49.95 for a quote which felt like paying for a time share presentation. At least with the time share i expect something in return for my time. Its a cheap lesson to learned at least. Maybe the company has grown too big and the word competitive is just a buzzword or maybe its companies of their size, maybe i got a greedy tech. Its surprising how many high reviews this company has and i hope people are not getting ripped off entirely and grossly overpaying. Its entirely possible my experience was a one off and not the norm. I will say if it is a issue with the company the last thing i want is foe the tech that came out to be turned into a scape goat, if it was the tech that is unfortunate. This was my experience in this process for a 50 gal power vent water heater. Edit: I had someone reach out since 12k wasnt expensive enough this is the actual quote $14,866.83 the photo is posted too.
