We requested a sun tunnel installation for our guest bathroom, even though the accounting office in Colorado proved to be error-prone. Some weeks later we decided to request another sun tunnel and in early September we paid a significant deposit of nearly $500. A couple of weeks later the same installer from the Texas office showed up and immediately cut a large circular hole in the ceiling without first checking up in the attic. This hole was partially under the HVAC system and therefore inaccessible, despite the installer’s insistence that he could somehow make it work in retrospect. So I called his manager – Rory Sterling of Skylight Specialists of Texas – who pulled him off the job, and sent a contractor over a few days later to repair the 14 inch diameter hole in the ceiling. This contractor succeeded in spraying texture over some of the floor, carpet, kitchen and furniture that took my wife and I two hours to clean up. Adding insult to injury, the ceiling paint was a lousy job and so we asked the company to return to do some additional painting. Despite this, for some reason, the ceiling still is not a match. Meanwhile, the installer had got fired and apparently a new one was being trained in Colorado. After several weeks of waiting I reached out to Rory again for an update. He said his new installer was still being trained, but that he would give us a $50 credit for the inconvenience/damage caused. I wrote to him stating that this amount was inadequate given the many hassles we had had to deal with. I never heard back from him, despite several calls where I only got his voicemail. So we decided to abandon this project and find another vendor. I then called the head office in CO, who agreed to return just some of our deposit under these particular circumstances – their policy apparently is not to reimburse any deposits, even if no work whatsoever had been done. This is no way to do business. The is a company that just wants your money, but offers nothing but drama in return. Avoid it like the plague.
