WOW, WOW!, WOW!! Andy came over, looked over my Brazilian Cheery wood floor and recommended I strip off the wax, sand and re-finish. He fit my job in on short notice to proceed and the results are truly amazing. The work was done quickly, on time and on budget. Great Job!

Andy helped us with a small, but tricky project milling and installing a threshold between our original house and a new addition with concrete floors. He made us a custom piece, as well as some other custom pieces to match the old, unusual trim in the main house. The only issue was the sheen of the finish he put on (glossy) didn't match the sheen in our house (satin) and so we'll have to sand/refinish with the correct sheen. Still totally worth it for the price, a custom job, and being willing to work with us on getting the price down if we did a fair bit of the install/prep work/labor. Threshold looks great and we were able to whitewash it ourselves to match our barn door before he installed. Thanks!

- Terrible communication -- never answered or returned phone calls.
- Shoddy work -- did a poor job filling cracks and holes we had in our floor (and specifically asked them to fill)
- Ripped us off -- we paid for water-based coating ($300 extra), instead they put on the less expensive polyurethane coating and wouldn't return phone calls.
I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Terrible.
Frequently Asked Questions About Cummings Hardwood Floors Ltd
How do I find the right flooring contractor?
Selecting an experienced flooring contractor is crucial, as price should not be the sole determining factor. Quality flooring installation requires time and expertise. Lower prices often indicate rushed work, as contractors may be eager to move on to their next project. The adage 'you get what you pay for' applies here, with pricing typically reflecting both skill level and credibility. Unlike purchasing a car, hiring a contractor does not guarantee the same product at a lower cost. Flooring installation is an art honed through years of practice and learning from both successes and mistakes. It's advisable not to let your floor become a testing ground for an inexperienced contractor.
Why does hiring an insured flooring contractor matter?
Engaging an insured flooring contractor is important due to the high cost of flooring materials and the potential for installation issues to surface months later. Insured contractors are legally required to guarantee their work and address any installation-related problems. Moreover, installation errors can void manufacturer warranties, making the insured contractor responsible for rectifying these issues. Uninsured contractors have no legal obligation to address or repair such problems. To verify insurance status, contractors should provide their insurance agent's contact information. Homeowners should be aware that they may be held liable for injuries sustained by uninsured individuals on their property. At Cummings Hardwood Floors Ltd, we prioritize client protection by maintaining full insurance coverage for all our flooring services.
Subflooring sounds somewhat mysterious and complicated - what do I really need to know about it?
Subfloor preparation is a critical component of the flooring installation process. At the very least, the subfloor must be thoroughly cleaned before installation begins. The success of the flooring installation largely depends on proper subfloor preparation, as inadequate preparation can lead to significant issues. These problems may include complete adhesive failure or moisture-related complications that can cause wood expansion. The importance of correct subfloor preparation cannot be overstated in ensuring a successful and long-lasting flooring installation.
