We hired Rockies Environmental to do asbestos abatement and mold remediation prior to a bathroom remodel and are very happy with their work. From the initial (free) quote to the final clean-up tasks, everything was handled efficiently. They set up their equipment in a way that minimized disruptions to our family, they provided clear communication about the timeframe and next steps throughout the project, and every member on their team was helpful, responsive, and professional. We received three quotes before deciding to go with Rockies and, with their competitive price and quality of work, we're so glad we did. We would highly recommend them.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rockies Environmental & Demolition Services Inc.
How does asbestos cause harm?
According to the National Cancer Institute, asbestos fibers that are inhaled can become embedded in the lungs and lead to scarring and inflammation. Asbestos exposure has been shown to cause cancer, asbestosis, and other nonmalignant disorders.
How much asbestos exposure causes mesothelioma?
“There is no “safe” level of asbestos exposure for any type of asbestos fiber.” – OSHA
Since no amount of asbestos exposure is safe, any exposure amount can cause mesothelioma. Repeated and prolonged exposure can increase your risk of developing the disease.
What is asbestos abatement?
The process of removing or mitigating the effects caused by this mineral is called asbestos abatement, but the first step is an inspection of the suspect material for the presence of asbestos and determining the level of hazard associated. Asbestos abatement does not always necessitate removal, because when asbestos is undisturbed and intact, it can often be kept in place with minimal risk of exposure. If there is enough risk present or the ACBM will be impacted by renovation or demolition, a workplan to safely abate the substance needs to be prepared before removing or otherwise handling this toxic substance.
Do I need asbestos abatement and removal?
Asbestos is a general term for a group of minerals that were once recognized for their heat resistance, strength, versatility and insulating properties. It was used in a variety of building construction areas: acoustic ceilings, roofing materials, vinyl flooring, plaster walls, duct insulation and so much more.
In the mid-1970s, the EPA banned asbestos due to concerns over the health effects of exposure to carcinogenic asbestos fibers. Issues include fibrotic lung disease, mesothelioma and lung cancer.
Your structure is damaged by flood, fire or other emergency situations.
You are remodeling or renovating and older home or commercial space.
Here in Colorado, the laws are specific about disturbing asbestos-containing materials (ACM) during any renovation project. Asbestos removal in Denver is required if you exceed certain trigger levels:
Single-family residential dwellings – 50 linear feet on pipes; 32 square feet on other surfaces; or the volume equivalent of a 55-gallon drum.
Commercial buildings – 260 linear feet on pipes; 160 square feet on other surfaces; or the volume equivalent of a 55-gallon drum.
How do I know if I have asbestos in my home (in floor tile, ceiling tile, shingles, siding, etc.)?
The only way to be sure whether a material contains asbestos is to have it tested by a qualified laboratory. The EPA only recommends testing suspect materials if they are damaged (fraying, crumbling) or if you are planning a renovation that would disturb the suspect material. Samples should be taken by a properly trained and accredited asbestos professional (inspector).
We only work with the best Colorado certified inspectors - please contact us for references.
What are the health risks if I have asbestos in my home, building, apartment, or school?
Asbestos that is in good condition and left undisturbed is unlikely to present a health risk. The risks from asbestos occur when it is damaged or disturbed where asbestos fibers become airborne and can be inhaled. Managing asbestos in place and maintaining it in good repair is often the best approach.
