For more than four decades, we’ve been making the American Dream a reality from coast to coast. We’re excited to share our story with you.
We filed a warranty claim for two windows that are getting moisture between the panes. Richmond sent out a technician from Prime Window Systems and he was here for a total of 4 minutes. We have the video on or ring camera. 4 minutes! He pushed on the glass and said they were fine. Never got a ladder out to check the exterior, these windows are on the second story. I’m guessing Richmond will just ride out the one year warranty and do nothing about it. Real classy, this seems to be a common theme with Richmond across their projects, check out other reviews. Our neighbors have also had a poor experience post closing. Buyer beware, poor quality tradesmen, if you can call them that, used to build their homes.

HORRIBLE!! experience with Richmond American. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about what a horrible experience my boyfriend and I have had with Richmond American.
We were going to sign on a townhome in the Urban Collection at Cross Creek neighborhood. We had our lot picked out and we made an appointment to go back first thing the next morning to sign for it. But Janet Murray’s sales partner sold the lot right out from under us without any notification. And Janet called us an hour before our signing appointment to tell us.
We decided to try again with Richmond (biggest mistake ever) and found a lot for the exact same model townhome in their Urban Collection at East Point up in Commerce City. Damon Dorsey was our sales associate and acted all nice and apologized for the issues we had in Aurora. We signed for a lot with them, put 1% down, and immediately began the loan application process with Richmond’s lender. Richelle Cellular with their mortgage team was amazing and great to work with and she began working on our application within a week or so. Fast forward to about three weeks later. Damon calls me at 6pm on a Friday night telling me we need an outside approval letter from a second lender and then recommends a friend of his (can you say conflict of interest?!). Our realtor spoke with him and told him that we would start working on it right away on Monday and he agreed that our contract would be fine over the weekend. Then on Sunday night we received a cancellation notice requiring an electronic signature and per their website our lot was put back on the market over the weekend as well. Several phone calls to corporate later, it was determined that they no longer wanted to honor our contract and they would rather sell our lot to someone else for $31k more. Meanwhile our loan is still being reviewed and underwritten. We haven’t even been approved/denied yet and their reasoning for terminating our agreement was due to lack of financing. We told them we had plenty of cash to put down and we both have great credit and steady jobs so there is no reason we would not be approved for a loan. What a joke!
What an overall horrible experience and unnecessary heart ache all because we wanted a nice brand new home for our first house together. Extremely disappointed in you Richmond.
