- MJMelvin JohnsonMay 13, 20252.0Had a 3 PM Friday pick up in Santa Barbara for the scissor lifts. A scheduling mistake was made internally with United Rentals and the $1100 cost to pick up the lifts was made my responsibility even though our contract said Friday 3 PM pick up. I wasn’t going to pay $1100 for United Rentals mistake. The scissor lifts weren’t picked up until Monday morning. Now I’m waiting to see if my invoice is going to be more than what I was quoted since they sat there over the weekend . The lifts did arrive on time Thursday morning and they did work well. Pick up was poorly and irresponsibly handled. Somehow, United Rentals problem was made my problem to pay.
- DCDave CMar 5, 20251.0Maybe if you have a corporate account things are good but don't go in there, especially the Ventura store, trying to rent as a private renter. They'll rent to you but they won't explain all the details completely and then the overcharges start ringing up! I came here because their "pricing" was much better than U-Haul. In the long run, a $350 one-day rental with U-Haul turned out to be an $835 one-day rental with United so be careful to get all the details!!! Just another notch in this bang-up world of "customer service hacks." You would think a multi-million dollar corporation would be more than willing to take care of you when they have an occasional dispute but nope, they just keep screwing away at the public with no care or scruples about good business anymore.
