South Tahoe Refuse has followed this path going forward by opening the Materials Recovery Center, Resource Recovery Center, and other waste reduction programs to divert 63% of solid waste going to landfills. We are proud to serve the City of South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County, and Douglas County Nevada.

- DEDJ EvansSep 5, 20251.0They dont actually collect the garbage so much as spread it all-over our streets. Petra who answers the phone is not at all interested in helping, she mostly just blames you for the trash collectors not doing their job.

Every time I visit, the team is polite, friendly, helpful, and just genuinely great people. You can tell they enjoy working with each other and take pride in serving the public. Having worked with the public myself for over 20 years, I truly appreciate that kind of professionalism. Special thanks to Patty Alexander—she absolutely deserves recognition for all she does with the dumpsters. From owners to front line employees they are the best. Nobody understands that if a big company came in rather than STR we would be treated horribly. They are the first to step up and donate to any one who needs it.
