Since 1989, our mission at California Carpet has been to be the Bay Area's leading floor covering retailer by providing more of what you, our customers, are looking for. That begins with the selection, service, and price - but it doesn't end there. It has to include trust, and we have worked hard over the years to earn yours.
We carry a number of eco-friendly products and also work hard with all of our suppliers to make sure that they are using environmentally sound practices in the manufacturing of their carpet, rugs and hard surface flooring. We are proud to say that almost every vendor is actively working to improve their carbon footprint. Additionally, California Carpet now recycles every bit of the carpet we remove from your home when we install new carpet. From pads to fibers, it all gets recycled and processed for reuse. Our partnership with Borgata Recycling allows us to deliver this benefit to the planet and our customers.

Four years later, every contractor we’ve contacted refuses to sand them, saying it would damage or ruin the floors. This is not a minor detail, it directly affects the longevity and appearance of the product. Had we been given accurate information, we never would have bought them and gone with a different option. Their sales pitch was extremely misleading and needs to be updated to reflect the current market reality of these floors - aka contractors will refuse to touch them. They refuse to talk to us about it too.
