I became knowledgeable about Metropolitan Heating several years ago when our furnace failed during a wild winter storm and i couldn’t get anyone to commit to come. Upon hearing our predicament Gord Merpaw came to the rescue and we avoided a very cold night. So when we decided to replace our furnace and AC I contacted Gord at Metropolitan. The Metropolitan Heating team did an efficient, professional and clean installation and once again have renewed my trust and loyalty. I highly recommend Metropolitan Heating.

I have to say the experience was pretty good, especially meeting with Warren for a quote and selecting the AC, furnace, and water heater. The work was done over a couple of days and I had no complaints about the speed or quality of the work. I was ready to give them a great review. The review says 3 stars, but I would give it more of a 3.5. Where they lost me was some things which some may call nit-picking, but I call it a lack of customer service and attention to detail. There was some wiring and other materials in the basement, which I said they could feel free to move out of the way if needed, but they tossed them kind of haphazardly out of the way into a crawl space we had just cleared out and it was not easy to get them out afterwards. I was assured they would clean up after themselves, but there was mud tracked on the new flooring at the entrance and through the kitchen. It does not appear that they put anything down to protect the floors. They also scratched the basement door which had been freshly painted. We had to clean up the mud ourselves and repaint the door. But the thing that really irked me was that the invoice stated that a $500 Mastercard was included with the purchase, but when I asked about it they said that was only if we had financed our purchase. So my paying you up front and promptly disqualifies me for this promotion? Why not take it off the invoice then so that there is no misunderstanding? Consolation prize was a couple of $5 Tim's cards dropped of by Natasha, who was very pleasant on the phone. So I guess I should just shut up and be happy that they didn't rip me off. Is that what this world is coming to? I know this type of stuff is not unique to this company, but it taints what otherwise would have been a positive experience. The devil is in the details. Hopefully if there are any issues with units the experience will be better and they will honor the warranty and perform the necessary repairs without any "provisos". In such case, I may return and bump up the review to a 4, but I will not forget the stuff that rankled me.

We had an excellent experience with Metropolitan Heating & Air Conditioning. From start to finish, the entire team was incredibly professional, efficient, and genuinely kind. A special thank you to Warren, who organized everything so seamlessly. His communication, coordination, and care throughout the process made everything feel easy and stress-free. The installation team — Mark, Hayden, and Ryan — were fantastic. They worked efficiently, were respectful of our home, and completed the installation smoothly and quickly. It was clear they take great pride in their work. Behind the scenes, Natasha and Lisa keep everything running like a well-oiled machine. Their organization and responsiveness made scheduling and communication effortless. And of course, credit to Steve and Gord, the owners who built such a wonderful company with an obvious culture of professionalism and service. Overall, the entire team was warm, reliable, and highly skilled. We truly appreciated the care they put into the process and would absolutely recommend Metropolitan Heating & Air Conditioning to anyone looking for a trustworthy and efficient company. Thank you again to everyone involved!

Tankless Installation Experience: Metropolitan Heating and AC was referred to me by my home and auto insurance brokers. I hired them to install a Rinnai RX160iN tankless water heater in my two-story home with a finished basement and three full bathrooms after I was specifically told it would provide instant hot water at the faucets — the primary reason I agreed to pay approximately $1,500 more than for a traditional tank. Instead, hot water took about 1 minute and 30 seconds to reach the faucets (approximately four times longer than my previous tank), and water pressure was reduced. When I first noticed the extended delay in hot water delivery and the reduced water pressure, I immediately contacted the company to report my concerns. It took 10 days for the company to start addressing the issue. Co-owner Gord attended my home and acknowledged that the delivery delay and reduced water pressure were normal for this unit in my home configuration. He agreed that the tankless system was not suitable and recommended installing a traditional tank instead, noting that he has a tank in his own home and prefers to keep it simple. Over a three-week period, I had to run water excessively to obtain hot water, increasing my water bill. In the final days, the unit stopped producing hot water altogether, leaving my home without hot water for two days. However, co-owner Steve — who did not attend my home — refused to replace the unit at the agreed tank price. He insisted I pay for the tankless in full and purchase a tank at a discount, later offering to add a small under-sink pump and maintenance incentives if I kept the tankless. I declined. I subsequently consulted three long-established Toronto HVAC companies. Each independently concluded that a tankless system of any size would be inappropriate for my home and stated they would have replaced it with a tank at the tank price as a training opportunity. This independent industry feedback was dismissed by Steve, and no adjustment was offered. From my initial complaint to any meaningful movement or decision took almost three weeks, during which I repeatedly had to follow up myself. When the unit ultimately failed completely, I declined Steve’s offer to repair the tankless system and instead requested replacement within a day or two with a traditional tank, as I required hot water immediately. I was then informed that the company would no longer do business with me and that we still needed to “deal with” the tankless invoice. Steve initially stated that he did not want the unit returned, but a few days later reversed that position and requested its return. I returned the tankless to the company. Given the original representation, the nearly three-week delay, and the refusal to replace the unsuitable system at the tank price, I cannot recommend Metropolitan Heating and AC.

I have been using Metropolitan Heating and Air Conditioning for many years and have always found them very prompt and helpful. Today my annual servicing was done by Neil and he was just great, even digging out the snow in my backyard to check the air out flow.
