Could not be happier with the service from Dons Heating and Cooling. Of course during a heat wave and while out of the country on vacation our tired AC unit decided to die. This was no issue for Dons Heating and Cooling and Chris was willing to get out the same night to take a look. We were able to get the unit up and running with an bandaid until we got back from our trip and Chris followed up and came to see us when we were settled back at home. He recommended a great new package to provide us reliability and get rid of our 25+ year old system and even gave us a great deal on a tankless water heater to give some space back in our small mechanical room. When it came to install Mark and Ferd were outstanding and provided updates through out the 3 day install. When all finished I was amazed by how much colder the air was coming out of our vents and how the system could perform. The tankless system was an awesome addition and for someone who likes a nice hot shower this system keeps up and never drops in temperature. The whole process from start to finish was flawless and the team outperformed!

Excellent Service!
I had a wonderful experience with Don’s Heating and Cooling and would highly recommend them! Brian came out to see me the evening before my new hot water tank was installed, and he was extremely friendly, helpful, and had a great sense of humour. He made the whole process very easy and comfortable.
I wasn’t home when the new hot water tank was installed, but my brother-in-law was there and couldn’t say enough good things about the installers Trevor and Hasan. He said they were extremely friendly, professional and absolutely immaculate. They even brought in carpet protection to make sure they didn’t make a mess in the house, and everything was left very clean when they were finished.
It’s so nice to deal with a company that takes pride not only in their work but also in how they treat their customers and their homes. I’ve used Don’s Heating and Cooling before for an AC repair and was very impressed with them then as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Thank you Brian and the installation team for the excellent service!

I live in the country in a large house that is 175 years old. Even with two very efficient wood burning units, the cost of fuel each season is an absolute fortune. The house is also without air conditioning. Chris Whelan came out to see if a heat pump might be a good solution for year-round comfort. Chris was excellent, as he not only brought his years of installation experience, he was very thorough is assessing my requirements. As opposed to tearing out the existing systems and replacing it, which would have been very expensive, Chris determined the best solution for my house would be a heat pump with units installed in the rooms where air conditioning and heat were a problem. He answered all of my questions and provided an estimate right away which included a large rebate. It was an easy decision and I booked my installation for the following week. I was so impressed with the team led by Owen Smith and Shane Morrison, which included the assistance of Gord Myers, Mark Ocampo, Erwin Carl Barona and Carter Porterfield. For three very hot and humid days, they all worked with complete synergy. They were very respectful of my house as well as the extensive gardens all around the house. A challenge to say the least. Also, Kyla in the office was an absolute delight to deal with. I am astounded at the efficiency of the air conditioning and look forward to the heat in the winter. I would not only have Don’s back any time, I would not hesitate to recommend them.

July 23 called to get a tech out as the fan on my furnace had stopped working, luckily we weren't in too much of a heat wave. Chatted with Google to set up an appointment and after reading other reviews made sure to ask about initial pricing. "Regular $249 but given the age of my furnace there was a promotion where I would only be charged $99."
Tech came out later that afternoon, prompt and efficient, and ascertained my blower motor had to be replaced. There was no mention of fees until the end of his visit, which was right after he gave the diagnosis and he asked me if I knew how much I was supposed to pay. Good thing Google had recorded our conversation.
I asked where we go from this point, thinking I would be priced out for repair by him but he told me someone from the office would call me in a couple hours. Seemed a little odd, but maybe he doesn't price things out and the office has to locate the parts and work it out.
3 hours later the office calls to quote me on a new furnace. Seemed a little odd if my furnace is just 10 years old. Sales person tries to tell me that since one part has gone, surely there will be others to go next. I inquire about just replacing the part, but get told that he doesn't price that out, the technician would call me the following day, but if I got a specific model I could always keep the functioning parts of my current furnace because they would be interchangeable. Am I in my forever home or am I planning on moving in the next few years because $6000 for a brand new set up would be a good selling feature. Nope, not moving, just want the repair quote.
Next day, the office calls and I'm thinking I'll finally get that quote. Day 3 no A/C and it's Friday. Pretty sure it was an actual person I was talking to, but sounded like it was the Google operator from the day before. Asked how the visit was from the day before and the subsequent sales call after. Had I thought about what as discussed about replacement. I responded I was still waiting for a response from the tech with a quote about repair because the sales guy last night said he would be contacting. The response, "OH, the repair department will put together a quote and email it to you later today. I see something in the notes about $1100." She confirmed my eamil address and ended the call. I haven't heard anything since.
Ended up sourcing out a new blower motor myself and swapped it out. $1400 and I'm back in cool air and my family is happy. Luckily found a place that shipped on the weekend and it arrived the following Monday, but that's better than waiting for a quote from a company that never even had the decency to contact me when I said no to a full replacement. Only reason I gave 2 stars was because the tech was a nice enough guy that explained enough to me that I was able to get the parts I needed myself to have it fixed. Buyer definitely beware.
UPDATE: Aug 16.
So, it's been about 2+ weeks since my initial review. I had hopes some kind of solution was on its way since the owner commented to my original post next day. Normal reply aknowleging the issue and comment to send them an email with full contact info. Great, so I send an email as requested with my full contact info, invoice number for the jobs done, which also has the same contact info. I imagine that would be more than enough to check their records and figure out what's what.
Well folks, guess not.
No follow up, nothing.
It's a good thing the service crew is good, because this place gets a failing grade for customer service. Again, here's hoping this finds someone on their management side that actually cares and decides to figure out who their weak or missing link is.
As for the service call rebate, don't believe a word of it!! It's BS!!
I'll gladly update the review if anything ever changes, but if you're reading this right now, customer service remain brutally absent.
Top marks for the service crews that came out, but beware of the level of service you may get from the office. Initial call made to diagnose a/c unit went well, techs came out next day, recommended replacement unit due to age and part availability. Perfect, went through the steps to arrange for a new a/c & furnace install, and was told by the techs and outside sales guy that because we are purchasing new equipment through Don's, they will credit the fee for the service call at the end of the job.
This is where service levels fell off the grid!!
New install was completed, and again top marks to the crews, professional, clean install, nothing negative to say about them. This crew again mentioned that the office will credit the initial service call fee. Great right? WRONG!! Whoever answers the phone claims to know nothing, "will check with billing", "will have to call you back" and any other excuse. I've followed up with their office multiple times, outside sales guy who directed to call back to the office yet again. Round and round.. and guess what, NO SERVICE CALL CREDIT!!
The final joke was the office person telling me "oh we'll just mail you a cheque". Yea sure, that was 2 months ago, I've given up and realize I'm eating the $300 or calling it a tip, whatever.
Hopefully this helps other potential customers be aware, and it finds someone in the office higher up than whoever it is that answers the phone, and promotes some kinda change in their system.
